Help ADB not working properly

[Android Question]

I've got a ZenFone 2 that I'm going to install Cyanogenmod on but I have an issue with the phone not being recognized via ADB when in recovery.
However last night it was fine, I could enter ADB Devices in the command window and the phone was shown correctly. I've done nothing different this morning and nothing has been changed on the phone or laptop (windows 8).
USB debugging is enabled as is mtp camera mode.
Anything else I should look out for?

Try disabling MTP in the Mounts (or Advanced--I can't remember) menu--that's what I have to do to get adb to communicate while in TWRP custom recovery.
