adb on a mac?

I've downloaded adb for a mac and cannot get adb to launch from the mac shell. I've followed the instructions on developer.android, adding the path to the .bash_profile, but still no luck. Help/suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. Try

PATH=$PATH:"the location of adb"
then run adb

so for example:

PATH=$PATH:/users/johndoe/desktop/android-sdk-mac_86/tools
adb

Thanks foebux. I think that i was leaving out Desktop from my path. I'll give it a try. Should I set the path using .bash_profile?

if you want you can, but i dont because im lazy so i would have to type in the path every time.

i just put adb in [ROOT]/usr/bin and didn't have to set PATH. fyi, usr is hidden.
