I decided I was going to root my using the unrevoked method, so I download the HTC drivers and followed the instructions and in device manager whilst the phone was in the boot loader screen device manager regonised the phone, but as soon I turned the phone off in device manager is has ADB unregonised.

I ran Unrevoked and it just sits at waiting for device, any idea's what I have done wrong?

If you go to the rooting faq.in my Sig and then follow the link to the unrevoked guide, ensure you have followed all the steps

HTC sync is definitely not installed? If you look in task manager on the PC, maybe kill off adb.exe and try again?

have you got any other apps that run adb on PC?

Have you previously downloaded Android SDK? if so can you connect via adb that way?

If you are not sure on this, let me know and I'll point you in the direction

On the first page of thus forum is a thread about changing the boot animation. One of my last posts details how to push a file to.phone via adb.

Follow those steps up to and including adb shell

What outcome?

No follow the above post. Not to root. Go upto the adb shell line and tell me what happens
