Help ADB Question

Hi Friends,
My neighbor locked his phone using ABD and now no matter what password he puts he can´t get into his phone. Is there a way to get around this without doing a factory reset? Thanks!

Did he have Android Device Manager setup?

Also, if he puts in the passcode incorrectly in quick succession, it should ask for his Google account details (providing he still has an active connection to the internet).

How exactly did your friend lock their device using adb (I'm unfamiliar with how one would (could) do that)?
