ADB working with default adb devices :)

songoku

Newbie
Well this is my First thread here :) so here goes....
We all know that default daemon server does not detect any other phones besides the known manufacturer. So using adb with A70 was a problem...

Thanks to aptsanju for 91 PC suite method rajapandian for driver & akshaybz for finding androidinterface.exe is the ADB :)

Here's how to add MMX to known manufacturer list so that Google's default daemon detects A70...

- download and install Google USB driver
- open file android_winusb.inf from the driver's directory
"C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver"
Find section [Google.NTx86] (32-bit Windows) or [Google.NTamd64] (for 64-bit). At the end of the section, add the following lines:
; Micromax A70
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_1d91&PID_0009
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_1d91&PID_0009&MI_01
- find the device in Device Manager and update driver using previously installed USB driver
- add folowing line to %HOME/.android/adb_usb.ini:
- restart server

Can anyone try same on Linux??? That will be very helpful.......

I know I am just putting requests, not doing anything...:(

But i will do from Jan2012. I am busy in my own marriage these days... ;)

Here is the link.. use the above usb line of a70

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13844077

Mine already had:

Code:
; Micromax A70
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C01
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C02&MI_01
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0FFF

Strange :s

Well I done this thing on linux before he posted this and its working for me.I thought u people know this. But thanks to him coz after seeing this thread only i tried that on windows too and it worked.
I tried this on Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit.
Anyways I did this after installing JDK and SDK.
In terminal
sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/99-android.rules

Then paste following in it.(I am writing code for Micromax only, there is a list of all manufactures,if u want I can give it.)
#Micromax
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="1d91", MODE="0666"

exit and save.

For ubuntu 11.04,paste this.(i m not sure of this but found in more then 2 guides)
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="1d91" TEST=="/var/run/ConsoleKit/database", RUN+="udev-acl --action=$env{action} --device=$env{DEVNAME}"

exit and save.

sudo chmod a+rx /etc/udev/rules.d/99-android.rules

sudo service udev restart

sudo gedit .bashrc

At the end paste this-
export PATH=${PATH}:/home/YOUR-USERNAME/android-sdk-linux_x86/platform-tools
(this may change according to your android-sdk directory)

source ~/.bashrc

reboot pc. (not necessary as advised by Aditya)

again at Terminal,
mkdir -p ~/.android && echo 0x1d91 > ~/.android/adb_usb.ini && adb kill-server && adb devices

After this steps my A70 get detected on my Ubuntu 11.10
EDIT:
File name is 99-android.rules and not 99-androis.rules, typing error, sorry.

Strange :s
Look at the values after USB\VID, its 0BB4(probably for htc) and he is pointing to USB\VID_1d91....which is a70's hardware id.
And main thing is to add 0x1d91 to android_usb.ini file because when I was working on adb on my linux system I got adb working only after adding that to INI file...even if u add adbInterface codes to driver files it won't detect until u add 0x1d91 to android_usb.ini file. This what I believe according to my experience with linux.

Edit:
Well I tested my this opinion about INI file in windows 7 too and its true what I said.
And I didn't had that adb_usb.ini file in my .android folder so I created the file and it worked.
adb now detects my A70 in windows too without 91pc suite.

Edit:
And people you don't need to update the driver and no need to add those lines to android_winusb.inf driver file. Your Micromax drivers which are said to be from service center(which we are using right now) will also work.Just add 0x1d91 to adb_usb.ini file and if file don't exist then just create one.it will work.
So like I said important is to add 0x1d91 to INI file.

Didn't work.
Anyone else tried this?

What did you get?Any error on these steps or u did all right & got List of connected device empty.
Well I double checked this method and even same thing on windows 7.worked for me on both systems.

But i will do from Jan2012. I am busy in my own marriage these days... ;)

I was and am there to try everything with linux.

Wish you all the best for a happy married life. :)

don't drag android to your honeymoon.

non techies especially fairer sex never digest android.

reboot was not at all required. only kernel changes require a reboot. ususally restarting the particular daemon does the job (here adb kill server)

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after a long long wait :D

the usb.ini file did the trick. so the device is getting detected in my 11.04 ubuntu (macbuntu)

The thanks posted to you is the most special one.

adb-up.jpeg

This is not a mac ok..

But su is not working, when I issue the command su at adb shell it just remains stuck there.

any idea guys

Now unlock your phone (slide to unlock)...

Type, su and hit enter.

U will notice a pop-up in phone asking for root permission.

Hit "Allow" and u will get su working...

good going doc, you've got the best and most complex hardware in the world to work upon - the human body.

so thanks for finding all the little time you've got to spare with us. but why micromax a70? you could have gone for a high end one...

Truly speaking I didn't wanted to spend much at this time so went for A70 & atleast it's better then samsung's series in this range. And 2nd thing battery issues,my buddy has got Galaxy S & he used to carry extra battery everywhere that looks ridiculous to me.
