What would be the best way to remove all the .odex from the system/app folder?

I am getting md5 sum mismatch when trying to flash zvd_stock. I did it the way you said in the op.
 
hey added the file to the backup folder when i go to flash it under the restore menu it don't show up... i want to flash the sounds to my phone....

you won't believe this but i flashed it and it worked added the sounds in all the right places...man i was so scared when i seen this post as i was flashing it...lol it was my wifes phone and she wanted that dam laser sound...

Oh Well i never flashed it cuz it was a backup just hit me up or Ldrifta if it has any bugs

what? im confused... which file did you add to backups folder? NO zip files go in there.. and for just the sounds you dont need the zvd stock/root backup.. lol just the sounds zip and you flash in recovery, not with restore option lol

if he 'flashed' the zvd stock/root backup than it had absolutely no affect.. lol there no META-INF folder with installer script so im 100% sure it wont even install the backup zip file that way lol need to unzip it, then place in backups folder to 'restore' the backup..

thats what i did unzipped put the ZVD_STOCK normal file in my back up folder BAM! restored it ;)

i was reading from the first post about (zvd_stock (DO NOT Flash in recovery, place in your 'clockworkmod/backup' folder, then flash in backup/restore menu) i didn't see anything else on how to flash and my wife was behind the whole time man i was sweating bullets.. but i could not get it to show under restore.. but all is well now...i guess i was trien to do this for the sound files and it was the wrong way....

haha yep!! sorry man ill try nd make directions more clear :D all files on this thread EXCEPT for the backup can be flashed as zip files in recovery

but the backup MUST be unzipped and placed in correct folder to use in 'restore' optin in recovery
 
My apologies if I missed it somewhere (lord knows I've searched), but how do I re-install a single stock app back into my phone? And what do I need to do it?
I miss the Memo app (widget I guess).
I have the Apk and Odex files from a Stock Rom zip file of which I tried to install the apk via a file browser, but it said "not installed" after it tried.
I don't wont' ALL the stock apps, just the one (and if I want another one later, I could use these instructions for that too, hopefully).

I have GSE ii on ZVB.

For other apps, I've seen batch files that use adb push, and I've seen zip files that I didn't understand how they get installed to the phone.
So, clean and clear instructions would be GREAT! :)

Grab the "stock widgets.zip" and pull memo widget out and push to system/app via adb

Or remove everything from the zip with 7zip (except memo lol) than place on sd card and before flashing be sure to disable signature check in recovery ;)

Hopefully that does it lol

That's the thing ldrifta, it's NOT in the stock widget zip file (nor is the commands to push it).
It's was in the LG Esteem Stock apps zip file which only contained apk & odex files.
I used a root explorer to put the apk file in the /system/app folder, rebooted, and it didn't show up in apps or widgets, and when I manually click on the apk file in the /system/app folder it tried to install it (again) and fails (again).

So what now??

If I need to use adb to push it, I would need to know how. There's all these other files (Cert.rsa, Cert.sf, Manifest.mf, update-binary, and updater-script), what needs to be done to them?

haha i was gonna say.. if your over here flashing roms than you cant be THAT much of a noob lol did it work?
