Help add shortcuts to apps

racky29

Lurker
i have a few apps on my wildfire s that dont have shortcuts for them
like, twitter app, qype, qr/barcode app, and a few others

so if i try and make a desktop shortcut for them
they dont come up on the apps list, so i cant create a shortcut for them

but if i search for apps they are there, and i can use them, and they then come up on the recent list, so i can use them from there

but is there any way to get a shortcut for these apps
ive tried for ages to get around this but its fustrating me

any help out there

Hello racky29 - welcome to Android Forums :)

I'm not sure if I've understood properly but, from the app drawer, you should be able to long press on any app and drag it to one of your homescreens to create a shortcut. Dependent on which app you are talking about, it could be a widget. If you long press on your homscreen, you should be able to select "widgets" and then you should be able to choose from the list (which should include, amongst others, Twitter).

your right about twitter and a couple of others, being widgets, i didnt notice that before
but qype, its on the settings / applications / manage applications / all apps

im sure it used to have a desktop shortcut but its not there anymore

and if i search apps its listed, and i can click it and use it, and its listed as an application

but i cant get a shortcut for it, its not listed in the normal places

its here on the phone and its usable, so there must be a way to acces it in the normal way

im sure it used to be, but its gone
so the only way of accesing it is do a search for apps and click on it
and once youve done that its listed on the recent items too

also if i use a file manager it in the location
system / app

all the apps are there along with qype as apk files

my Wildfire S was originally a Vodafone uk
i had it unlocked, now its running orange uk

qype is a version with vodafone branding that came pre-installed with the phone

theres a few others that are on the phone but not listed, BIDI barcode QR scanner is another one

Sorry then... not sure what to suggest on that one! Perhaps one of our other members who uses the app could offer a suggestion...
