Adding contact to "People" from PC

I am running Windows 7 x64.

Microsoft in their brilliance have taken away the address book.

I have an old iPaq with loads of contacts I want to put onto my Desire.

iPaq will not sync as it is not recognised by PC. Have downloaded HP Activesync Mode Switch and MS Windows Mobile Device Centre and still no joy. It must be the iPaq or its USB cable as the USB ports work.

I am prepared to type them into some sort of address book on my PC then sync them to the phone, preferably to the SD card. Knowledge of using both SD card and internal memory would be great.

I have searched and tried numerous ways for many hours and am at a blank.

Could some one point me in the right direction to end this dilemma please?

The way I have done it is via gmail. Do this on your pc and they will automatically get sent down to your phone. I can't remember the exact instructions but that will probably be the easiest way.

Have look at MyPhoneExplorer.
Client for phone:
MyPhoneExplorer Client - Android
Host for PC:
FJ Software Development

I connect MyPhoneExplorer via WiFi to my PC.
But connect via USB is possible too.
