Adding Music

Ok, please bear with me here...this is my first smart phone and I am trying to figure things out here.

I want to add mp3 files from my computer to my Atrix. I downloaded Motorola Media Link and connected my Atrix to my computer...I synced a few playlists from my computer to the Atrix via the Motorola Media Link..However, I am unable to find them on my phone after I disconnect. Do I NEED to purchase an SD card or something? Where are these songs that I sync going to?

I was able to sync a few videos from my computer to my Atrix and they showed up fine in the Gallery app...but I can't find my music.

Thanks for the help.

I can't really answer the question of where your music is, since I don't use the technique you did. I just copy and paste to phone. I don't use playlists, so my technique isn't for everyone, but it is the easiest.

Have your tried to see if the playlist shows up in the media player? if so, see if it will show you the properties. (this should tell you the location it's stored in.)

For me, Doubletwist behaved strangely. I don't know if it was the fault of Doubletwist, or something else. However, when I would plug in my USB, Doubletwist would sometimes recognize my phone's internal memory (and therefore want to sync music to there), and other times it would recognize my phone's SD card. I couldn't figure out why it tried to sync to one place or the other, so I gave up and started copying music files to my phone manually also.

Where do you guys paste the songs?, this media link is kind of annoying and the thing I'm trying to get away from (cough itunes cough)

I just paste them into a "Music" folder on my SD card.

Hmm, don't have a SD card yet, I saw a 16gb for $30 but am gonna hold out till I can find a 32 for a decent price. Anyways, what music player do you use, if I add a music folder, will the stock android music player recognize it?

I use power amp as my music player and love it, yes you do have to pay 4.99$ but they let you play for 15 day then make your choice. Any music I downloaded or take from computer to phone it picks it up right away and art too. I can put as many songs as I want at one time and always gets them all on there..

I'm using the stock music player that came with the Atrix. I have tried DoubleTwist and Rock Player, but I liked the stock player better.

I haven't been doing this long (only been a Smartphone user about 6 weeks) so don't don't pay any attention to me, but it seems to me that on some occasions, I have had to shut down and restart the phone before the music is recognized.

In the Music folder on my SD card, I put an artist folder, and in an artist folder I put a folder with the album name, and then I paste the songs into that folder. It works.

I put them in the mml folder in the internal storage. Just connect as mass storage and then copy to that folder.

+1.

i uninstalled that stupid motorola media link thing. useless.

u dont NEED a SD card, remember you still have 16gigs. lol
i use the phone like an external pretty much. throw the songs in using the mass storage option.

im also surprised noone has suggested Winamp, my favorite of all time. been using winamp on my computer since way back since even before highschool.

i prefer winamp over the stock player because i dont really like the stock one. especially how it has those submenus..

hope this helps
