Help Adding my Gmail Account using HTC Mail

I'd like to use the HTC Mail widgets that sense has, so I tried setting up my GMail (the same account that I used to activate the phone) on the Mail app instead of the Gmail app that Google provides. However, when I set it up, it doesn't sync properly as it shows emails only up to April 22ish and none more recent, no matter how long I wait, or how many times I force refresh. Also, at the top is an email from VZW saying I've now set up my email with My Verizon.

Anyone know what the cause of this is? This is my first HTC sense phone, so I'm still adjusting to the UI and it's differences from pure Vanilla. Thanks for the help!

Edit: Also, the emails that sync seem to be emails that I've deleted a long time ago from the dates that I mentioned above. Thanks for any help you can provide

Solved: So I guess the solution is to manually set up the Gmail account as an IMAP account. It can only sync every 5 minutes, and not push, but I don't need emails instantly. And if I did, I can always manually refresh.

I just added two GMail accounts using the regular Mail widget and the first account synced fine. The second account only loaded April 24th and 25th emails. Do you think because it's the second GMail account it has to be set up as a IMAP one? I'll try and see if that works.

I was having troubles with my email upon setup. I kept getting an error message saying to Enable the Mobile Network when I setup through the Email>Gmail link...which was checked. In the end, I set up my Hotmail & Gmail through the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. This worked well, but when I deleted an email, it would refresh and return as a new email, obviously this was annoying. But thanks to AMTrombley0924, I set up the Gmail & hotmail accounts as an IMAP account & its smooth sailing so far! Thanks!

How were you able to set the Hotmail up as IMAP? I thought it was only POP. I'd love to use something other than ActiveSync since I can only get the last 24 hours worth of mail regardless what I have the settings set for.
