Additional Dim in Multi-Media Dock?

At night when using the multi-media dock, I find that even using the "dimmer" of the two screen brightness options for the dock, it is still WAY too bright, and I don't think it's just the light from the 4 buttons...

Any app out there or other solution to this without rooting the phone?

Aren't there actually 3 levels of dim. When I hit the bulb in dock mode its pretty dim. Esp after it auto dims.

My screen brightness is always down so I never noticed it.

Hmm - personally I only ever noticed 2 brightness levels when using the bulb, and I always have my "general" brightness set to minimum anyway...but still find it's too much light, for me and the dog as well
