Root Adjust Screen-Light On Time for Pattern Lock Access?

Is there any way to slightly lenghten the time interval the screen stays lit between pressing End (Power) and starting the Pattern Unlock swipe? I have always felt it is just a little shorter than what I would like. If I could I would add an additional second or two of on-time before the screen goes back to sleep.
