Help adjust volume

This is a small problem but it is bugging the hell out of me.Every time I turn on my tablet I have to reset my volume preferences. Does this tablet automatically go to default volume setting. I dont have this issue with my, other android devices. Some input would be appreciated.

Has your device always done that? Is it new, or did you purchase it previously owned?

I've not seen that issue in this device, with the sole exception of a rooted ROM a while back.

Has your device received any updates lately? Updates to the system via OTA or to any apps/widgets via Play Store?

If so, I'd not be surprised if the update(s) are not playing nice with some of the system services.

I'd do a factory data reset via the recovery menu (power down fully > wait one minute > hold the volume up key > at the same time hold the power key > when the white "..galaxy.." letters appear on the screen, release the power key > when the blue recovery menu appears, release the volume up key > use the volume down key to navigate to the "factory data reset" selection > press power > follow the prompts).

You'll be "starting over," so be sure to do a backup first.. also, a caution, be careful about what you reinstate from the backup following the FDR, as you don't want to import the problem right back into the system. Put things back in one at a time if you can and test the device's volume.. etc. Time consuming but well worth it.
