Root Advanced Restore Rom Manager

Hello all- looking to experiment with advance restore in rom manager. (having a few problems with Liquid 3.2)

I was on Liquid 3.1 having no issues. wanted to check out liquid 3.2, so i flashed overtop (did not wipe data). having a few FC, such as Liquid settings>goodies>prop modder. nothing too much wrong that i can find, but i didnt mess with it much yet. consistent FC.

Im wondering if i can, (1.)wipe everything, (2.)do a fresh install of Liquid 3.2

& (3.), if possible, do an "advanced restore" and restore Data, maybe sytem, cache, whatever necessary to restore my homescreen setup on my Liquid 3.1 backup that i just made, while keeping the new Liquid 3.2 framework,( or whatever changes have been made).

sorry if this is a noob question, im just wondering if this would work, if im interpreting this correctly.

am i way off here?

any response would be appreciated! just looking to experiment further and see if i can get it to be a "fresh" install but backup my data right from my (recent) liquid 3.1 backup.

1. If you flash a rom without wiping and have issues then reflash with wiping and see if you still have issues.

2. I guess that was answered with #1 :)

3. I don't know what rom manager's restore function is as I don't use rom manager but Titanium. Generally if you restore system data you are asking for issues, it looks like you may be seeing some of those. Restoring user data shouldn't cause issues.

If you want to backup your user data before flashing I would suggest using titanium backup or mybackup root as I know both of those work, I haven't seen much of people using rom manager for a backup solution.

i might just experiment and try something.

but i just noticed something, when i click on goodies>prop modder> it says "superuser denied application". cant figure out how to allow it, any idea?

i was kind of trying to avoid the full wipe---might have to bite the bullet

thx for the response

Open the superuser app and click on prop modder and change to allow. Or just clear data from the superuser app in manage applications.

Yeahha: I was waiting for you to finally put up a pic of yourself! nice!! :p

Chrizzl: i second Yeahha's comments but wanted to say also that when I did a fresh wipe/flash on 3.2, i had no problems wiht the ROM. I did not flash over 3.1. Some refer to that as a "dirty flash"...so you may see that reference in the boards-just learned that last week.

Is the advanced restore option you are referring to actually in CM Recovery menu? or are you refering to ROM Manager menu? If you use Titanium, you already know it will allow you to restore apps with data and i think is the best way to manage/control your restores. Pro version is much friendlier too...worth purchashing if you haven't.
