Help Adverts popping up on BRAND NEW N4, not notifications

Hi all,

I am getting popups and randomly sent to an item in the Play Store on my brand new N4. I tried to long press to see if there are any options but nothing happens.

Adverts range from full screen pop ups to being redirected to the official native Play Store.

AirPush Detector and LookOut finds nothing.

Please help! This is like spy ware or something and the phone is 3 days old!

This can happen with certain apps that you install. If they're not reputable apps, then sometimes the developer will hide them in the app. Only problem is trying to figure out which app's doing it

OK i'll systematically uninstall my apps starting with the most likely IMO. I will report back which one I find to be the problem :-) pesky thing.

If they only link back to the Play store then the links are almost certainly to other products from the same developer - good to avoid in future - and a clue to the identity of the offending app causing the popups in the first place.

Good point, I'll take a note of the developer name of the suite of apps it directs me to, then reference that against what I have installed, and I should find my offending app, thank you.

This is one uncomfortable part of Android imo. I am not even a root user on this device and I find this scary.

Just to update, I noticed the "bingo bash" application it keeps wanting me to install was made by "BITRHYMES INC" but I have no other app installed which is made by this, so my search contiunes.

One thing I did do is to install the AirPush Opt-out app, click "opt out" and uninstalled to see if it helps.

thank you sir!

It found RipTide GP2 has Airpush notifications :-)

I will continue with the Airpush opt out app to see if it works, and if not, I think You helped to find my culprit . thanks again!
