Help Advice for GPS

Hi there, i've been an avid reader of the forums, was engrossed for days when i first got my Hero installing bits n bobs

Now i have a netbook which requires a GPS receiver for a program to work ( memory maps ), but i cannot find anywhere a guide on how to use my Hero as an external GPS ( if its possible )

I found a small guide ( here=http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/3360-htc-touch-pro-gps-pc#post27275) but got stuck with installing a .CAB file ( not possible i hear?? )

Any advice or tips on using a Hero as an external GPS receiver for my netbook would be very much appreciated.

.CAB files are for Windows Mobile phones, like the HTC Touch Pro the guide refers too. So they won't work on an android phone, unfortunately.
