Advice on cheap (<

Found a few on ebay running Jellybean with 1.2Ghz, 512MB ang 4GB (not a problem because I've got loads of cards here somewhere)

I know they're not going to be as good as a Nexus 7, but are they worth the 50 quid?

Cheers - that was my experience with the cheap tablets a few years ago or so, just wondering if they were any better these days.

We'l find out - just ordered one up. Will update this thread with my thoughts after playing with it for a few weeks

No, no, no!!! They are complete junk and give Android a bad name. Spend a few quid more and get a brand-name tablet. It will be a better experience and it will hold it's value better than that junk for 50 pounds.

Lots of rumors of a price drop for the Nexus 7 (either the existing version or the soon to be released) at google I/O in May. Down to something around US$169. Not close to your preferred price, but closer.

I wouldn't do Ebay, just too many risks of been stuck with a useless brick. Caveat emptor.

Have you had a look at what Argos, Currys or Maplin have to offer? Here at least if the cheapo thing does turn out to be garbage, there's no risk to you, you can just return it.

Please do that... i realise its not going to be a nexus killer... but i'm interested to see what

quick up-date

Managed to "aquire" a couple of year- old 10" tablets, both running ICS, and more importantly a mate was selling his Nexus 7 complete with bluetooth keyboard case, for a price I couldn't ignore

Whilst the 10" are more than useable, you don't realise how shite they are compared to the 7 - response, accuracy - it's all miles ahead

Still don't know what the new ones are like tho
