Help Advice on Launcher Pro

I suggest the 3D App Drawer. It looks so cool and surprisingly runs smoothly on the Ascend. When on the HomeScreen > Press Menu Key > Preferences > Advanced> 3D App Drawer.

Based on your suggestion, I downloaded Go Launcher Ex and I have to agree with you; it's faster than Launcher Pro. It offers pretty much the same set of features but it runs faster on the Ascend.
 
I also use Go Launcher Ex. I love the customization on it. It also speeds up my phone. My favorite thing about it though is the fact that I can change the dock applications and their icons. Don't forget that if you download another theme for Go Launcher, You can use them interchangeably (Like use the dock apps from one, The App drawer setting from another). ^^. Have fun making the phone all your own!
 
I looked at some of the themes but didn't find any that appealed to me. I have the Launcher Pro app for doing icons and docks and I've been using that. I really want to find a nice Celtic knot wallpaper but haven't found one that I like yet.

I generally have to put the wallpaper on my SD card, Then use it through the Live wallpaper settings. I have "Shake them all" A single lone almost invisible droid is constantly keeping me company. He's floating around and when I touch him he flies around my screen like a ninja. Good thing about Go Launcher is when you put a wallpaper on your phone or SD card, It will help to correct it to the right size by scrolling it. ^^.
 
Just curious on what everybodies "Fling Speed" is set on.
MENU > PREFERENCES > DISPLAY SETTINGS

I have mine at 100 for fastest, with the default for Elasticity at 20.

Fling speed is at 80. No elasticity. I don't find it necessary. I am using the bounce transition effect. I like this new update for the Go Launcher Ex. If you haven't downloaded it, Go to market and do so! There is more options available for the transition effects and a few other things. ^^.
 
I noticed the opposite with mine. With Z4Root, GO Launcher seemed slower to open the app drawer than Launcher Pro. Then, I found out about custom ROMS :-) Flashed IcarusMOD 1.0 which came with LP... it was working smoothly after that and I liked LP over GL, so along with my update to IcarusMOD 1.1, I paid for the Pro version of LP, and so far I really like it. To be fair, I should try GL now that I have Icarus, but I'm happy with LP so why mess with anything else. <---- Hey I wish my soon to be ex wife woulda thought like that. She was happy with me but thought she could do better with someone else...then came crawlin back LMAO

For help with LP I would just play with it and see what you like. Can't do much damage changing the settings, so have at it and see what works best for you.

Also, try out the 3D app drawer (as mentioned above) and if you get the paid version you can have LauncherPro widgets too. The texting widget can come in handy...I put mine on a separate homescreen by itself.

Sorry about that last bit! X.x I just was suggesting for Go Launcher ex because it is free. I tend to put my two cents in when it comes to free apps. I'm the cheap person in this forum! If you are looking for a free app, I'll be the person to ask to help you find it. LOL. So far I haven't paid for anything (Though I will once I find one I NEED to). So how is the Icarus mod going for you? I haven't done it because the first one had the character issue on names that are too long in the menu, I haven't done the second one because it's got an MMS issue with Metro. Guess I'm waiting for the right thing to come along. ^^.

Ha, I am in the same boat. I haven't paid for an app yet. Mainly because I am still learning everything about the phone. Once I learn alot more, then I will look into paid apps. I do know that one of the Launchers will be the first one I get as a paid app.

As far as the Icarus mod, I too am just waiting to see if any more bugs pop up. I am new to smart phones and really don't want to screw this one up until I learn enough about it.
 
Well don't worry bout that last bit...another will come along :-) As for you being cheap, I am too. In fact, I'm typing this on a laptop that was given to me for free. Replaced the memory, nuked Windows XP and replaced it with Ubuntu Linux 10.04, and presto! A great backup computer! I don't mind paying for an app if it's real good and the dev clearly put a lot of time and thought into it (like Star Chart) but most of mine are free :-)

Icarus 1.0 was great, only issue I had was no MMS. I tried the recommended fix for it, but it still didn't work. So, I got to doin some more reading on here and saw that Icarus 1.1 is now out. Installed it last night (or was it the night before?) and had a coworker send me a pic today at lunch break. Great surprise when it actually worked!! And I have Metro lol... is 1.1 supposedly not working for Metro customers? Don't know about the filename issue, never seen that happen to me but I don't have any excessively long filenames in my app drawer either...

And you haven't had any MMS issue with it? That's odd. Some people say it's working, Some say it's not. Perhaps I should give it a try. If I do a back up of what I have now, Worst come to worst I'll just be able to set it back to normal. Only major hassle for me is that I have to move all my information to my computer from my SD card. It's all good though, That shouldn't take too long. I think I'm seriously going to try this rom. Now that everyone else is of course. I'm a little nervous but, Wish me luck!
 
Good luck darlin... I just got another pic message after I posted that and it wouldn't download at first, when I hit the download key. And I was like "aw hell, I just posted on the forums that MMS works on 1.1 and Metro"... but then I had a moment of inspiration and turned on mobile data. After that it worked fine lol. By the way, if anyone wants a good app that actually works to turn data on/off, get DataSwitch. Works fine on the Ascend, and with Launcher Pro you can stick the icon in the dock.

So you like the new GO update? I was going to update when I was looking at the market last night, but a lot of the comments said it was worse, so I decided to wait.
