Help After froyo, gmail is no longer pushed instantly. Any ideas?

I won't begin to pretend that I am an expert on the Android platform but as a geek and a trouble shooter I couldn't help but notice when my work-around stopped working and I'm curious...

Who else is using AppBrain? I ask that SPECIFICALLY because as soon as I got both of my gmail accounts to sync again AppBrain pushed a bunch of updates to my phone and it hasn't sync'd both accounts since... AND I KNOW that it was sync'ing both accounts the day that I installed 2.2...

I don't believe that this is a 2.2 issue ALONE... I feel like it has something to do with prioritization of services and automatically updating applications through AppBrain...

My spidey-sense tells me that this has something to do with the implementation of the new Market (and AppBrain). I'm guessing EVERYONE has AppBrain... Quick show of hands for who is using the same account as the primary on their phone and their sign-in for AppBrain...

First - What I DID NOT DO: REBOOT or CLEAR EMAIL CACHE!

While I would not bet my life on it I WILL SAY that unassociating my AppBrain account with my primary Google account (and instead associating it with a secondary account) make it start to sync both primary and secondary email... Maybe it's a fluke... I don't know... But it seems like a LOT more than a coincidence!!!

I removed AppBrain from the phone, created a new account on AppBrain.com using my secondary account, reinstalled AppBrain and logged in using my secondary account credentials. Worked first try. Not kidding. Try it.

Same here; I do not now and never did have appbrain, and I have the same problem with my second gmail account not being pushed.

I'm having a similar problem to what a lot fo your are describing, but...

I did NOT update to Froyo.
I only have ONE Gmail account.

2 days ago my Gmail just stopped pushing unless I did a manual refresh.

I do not have AppBrain.
GTalk is logged in and works correctly.
Google Calendar works correctly.

I've tried the clear cache/data, the soft and hard resets, the remove/replace account, all of it. I set up my native mail app to receive Gmail every 10 minutes and it works perfectly, so I have a substitute at least, but what the heck?

I don't think this is Froyo only, guys. Is anyone else having these same issues while still on 2.1?

A reply from google today (google mobile help website) states they are working on a patch with HTC and hope to have it out soon, which depends on carriers.

Ok, for me, the problem seems to be the Facebook sync. I went into Settings>Accounts & sync and unchecked the Facebook for HTC Sense syncing, and bam, my secondary gmail account was syncing properly and pushing emails almost instantaneously again.

Yes, mine stopped a couple of days ago same as you. I have a stock Incredible, only 1 gmail account. I DO have AppBrain, Calendar works, am now logging into to GTalk to see if that helps.

Since I started this thread, and then reported that it was now working, I thought I better clarify that it is no longer working, and Im back to square one.

Come on google! Get this fixed.

i was having the same problem - Gmail stopped automatically PUSHING post-Froyo-update on BOTH of my Gmail accounts. the solution that worked for me is a HARD RESET. ERASE/WIPE your Android phone clean and then manually reinstall everything one by one. this is the only thing that permanently fixed the post-Froyo lack of Gmail PUSH for me. the Gmail clear cache data works but ONLY TEMPORARILY (~24 hours). it's now been 2+ weeks after my hard reset and both of my Gmail accounts now PUSH sync flawlessly. my guess is that when you update the OS version you need to start clean on the Gmail sync and the only way to do this is a HARD RESET.
