Help (AFTER UPDATE) Emercency Calls Only Issue

tomasita

Newbie
Hello, I've been using samsung galaxy s 2 for almost two months now. And I have done many updates and none of them gave me this issue. Can someone help? I'm going to tell you all the steps I've done below.

I was using 2.3.6 on my phone and everything was working smoothly. Then I came across to ICS frimware from SamMobile, K8. I installed it to my phone via Odin (I've always used that for updating) It's been installed just fine and my phone booted into brand new ICS and I liked it so much. I quickly connected to wifi and set up my google account and etc. Then I disconnected wifi to use my data plan. The network signal was on and it seemed fully connected to network but when I pulled down the notification bar it said EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY. I tried everything but none of them seemed to work so I installed the old rom I had. It had been working good. But after installing it to my phone I got the same error..

Can someone help me with this problem?

sounds like your efs folder has become corrupt.

what does it say in menu>settings>about phone>status>IMEI?
does it say "unknown"?

no there is a number it isn't unknown..

things which are shown as not working:

Service State: Out of Service.
Roamning: Not Roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected..

and I'm not in the airport mode btw.

well thats a relief then.

have you tried putting your sim in another phone?
there could be a network issue in your area

Okay I think I found what's wrong..

BenJaminnn if you're still reading this, I want you to pick up your samsung galaxy s2's box and look at your IMEI code in there and then look at your sgs2's IMEI code which can be found in Setting - About Phone - Status. Are they the same? My IMEI code is 004999010640000 which isn't the same as the code shown on the box.

I think I've flashed a wrong file when I was updating with Odin. The file that people say we don't need, so I searched about the file. And I learnt that if you flash it, it may change your IMEI code and you may not connect to mobile network, which I'm having this issue..

So anyone know how to get back my IMEI? And of course I must tell you I haven't made any backup of anything. I have only backed up my apps and my system settings by Titanium Backup when I was able to use my phone.

please someone tell me the way to repair my IMEI because I searched the internet and I found some ways for Galaxy S but not for Galaxy S2

Without a backup of the EFS folder, I really dont know how this would be done.

I've tried looking in nv_data.bin but cannot find my number in there which suggests its encrypted (as i would expect it to be)

Keep us posted if you solve it.

I doubt I'll solve it, I'm still researching but if I can not find anything which helps I guess I'll have to find someone who may help, who is familiar with phones.

i have the same problem with my SGSII that i bought 4 months back. Although my IMEI number hasnt changed. I am also getting the 'EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY' message while there are signal bars seen. Also it jumps between 'emergency calls only' and my network provider from time to time. please help me resolve this issue...

I have the same issue since I rooted my Galaxy S 2 GT-I9100 with ODIN. My IMEI is still the same.

I've used MobileODIN to flash to ICS 4.0.3 and I still have the same problem.

Anyone any idea?
