Ah iPhones are so frustrating

Dunno if anyone here knows how to do this on the iPhone 4 but I can't seem to find any info on it. Sometimes my htc legend won't stay connected to my router (it has no problem with any other router I've been near, just something about mine). Anyway to get around this I've set up my desktop pc as a wifi hotspot. so I connect to my desktop pc which is connected to the router and bam I've got Internet. But I usually shut my pc down when I go to bed so I thought maybe I could set my girlfriends iPhone 4 up to be a hotspot so I can connect to it which is connected to my wireless router. But no it seems you can only turn it into a hotspot that shares the phones data connection and not the wifi. when you turn it into a personal hotspot it'll switch off the wifi and revert back to using the carriers data connection.

Does anyone know if there's a way to do what I want on this iPhone lol?

It's not possible on a phone.

I wouldn't go that far, but I don't think it can be done on the iPhone. I've been out of the iOS loop for the most part for about 8 months, but I used pretty heavily for years prior and never came across any workaround for this.

I don't think this is built into the hotspot functionality because the general thinking is if Wifi is available, just connect directly to it rather than connecting another mobile device as an intermediary hotspot.

I am quite sure that it's not possible to turn a phone into a wireless router using the internet connection. I've never heard it possible for jailbroken iPhones and for Android phones.

I had this problem with my phone not staying connected to my wifi. I used wifi analyzer from the market to determine the best channel on my router, as it turned out I was using the worst channel and just had to switch channels and haven't had the problem since.

+1 on this. He might be on to something.

My D2 would not stay connected to my router at home. It was driving me nuts. Any other device or computer connected to it just fine.
My D2 connected to any other router. It was just that one!!!

I was going to get a new router, but before I did that I ended up installing a gingerbread rom, and after that it connected, and has worked ever since.
So it was definitely a problem with my phone... i'm guessing it was using the wrong channel as landovr suggested.

I use the Apple Airport Extreme Basestation router. I love it. It's dual band and I have Airport Express repeaters that let you stream music through the house and obviously repeat the wifi signal. It's neato.

Sometimes My DC shows both the 4g and Wifi symbols at the same time. I was wondering which one I'm actually on. I think it's on wifi because my data usage doesn't seem to accumulate quite as fast but I'm not sure. Does anybody know what's going on here?

I have a Belkin Wireless N router and it seems to work good except when I have a momentary power failure. Then I always have to reboot my modem and router both to get my internet connection back.

Lately I've been just leaving it on 4g just so I can use up some of my unlimited data. If I use wifi I use hardly any at all.

^^^ I would guess that your issue is software based (in terms of your android device). You can try toggling your wifi (or 4G) off and on.
