Airplane Mode Question

So I turn on airplane mode at work so I can listen to music and play games without losing battery due to NO signal in the laboratory (I know, I work SOO hard)... anyways, it says its supposed to turn off ALL communications, but I seems that I can still access wifi. How is that? My phone is still telling me Im on airplane mode, but i'm googling at the same time.

???

I actually just did some searching online and it looks as if you can switch your wifi back on after you turn your Airplane mode on and still use the wifi. Kinda neat!

yeah airplane mode is just to stop your phone from searching for a cell signal. i think even if you didn't have service with verizon or whoever you could still use wifi

They have in-flight wifi on a lot of flights now. The ability to use wifi in airplane mode was added in 2.1 so you can take advantage of that.

Nice little fact about that, thanks. I've been using airplane mode in-flight, but not even bothering to look for wifi at those times.

This changes everything.. (those airline headphones have to be cleaned off with an alcohol wipe.. :D).
