I believe this is a Jellybean problem across all devices but my alarm clock has never worked properly. It does go off but 'chirps' for a second and is then silenced. Does anyone know if an update is planned to fix this problem? I did install a 3rd party alarm but it has annoying ads at the bottom which are easy to hit when half asleep! I'd prefer to use the normal alarm.

Maybe you should change the ringtone? Maybe the rightone you placed is just a chirp.

It does seem to be a more general issue. My wife's S3mini had the same problem the other morning and now fails to go off. My S2 did it this morning.
Changing the alarm type, then changing it back to 'Melody' seems to have sorted it for now.

I had the same problem, I solved it by downloading a different alarm clock from Play Store
