Help Alarm Issues - No Sounding?

This all started yesterday morning. I had my alarm set, woke up later than I needed to with a notification on the phone that said Alarm Turned Off After 10 Minutes, telling me the alarm had gone off for 10 minutes and was automatically turned off.

I thought it was weird so I did some digging and it turned out that NONE of my sounds were working. The volume was up, silent mode was off, but I was getting nothing whatsoever from the phone speaker. Even speaker phone wasn't working. Headphones worked fine. It seemed my speaker had blown.

Well, later in the day (as I was preparing to take it back to Verizon) it just randomly starts working again. All sounds now seem fine.

So I set my alarm this morning. And this time, it didn't even go off, at all! I woke up 5 minutes after it was supposed to go off, and when I unlocked my phone, THEN the alarm started going off. It's almost like it isn't coming our of deep sleep to sound the alarm.

Are these two issues related; the sound issue yesterday and the alarm issues both days? Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to be random...sometimes I can replicate it, other times I cannot.

Welcome to the forums! :)

Sorry to hear you're having such a bizarre issue. Other than a faulty handset or a conflicting app, I can only suggest that you check the alarm levels in Settings:

Settings --> Sound --> Volumes

and make sure "Alarms" is turned up.

Let us know if that helps. If not, you may have a conflicting alarm or silencer app. And if not THAT, then Verizon is definitely going to have you do a data wipe / factory reset before replacing the phone. You can try that as a last resort.

I appreciate the input. I've checked everything and it's all set correctly. This is the first time I've had this issue since I've had the phone. Weird.

I had blocking mode enabled. On my galaxy note 2 it was a quick settings from the pull down menu at the top of the screen. It was blocking ringing, notifications alarms and timers.

The other stuff sounds like some kind of odd volume/software glitch that may have started with an app update or install - or simply a corrupted sound file. Perhaps change the tone?

But the one I quoted above makes me think that the real issue is a loose cable.

I was having the same problem, just got the JB update and had blocking on not noticing that I blocked everything...just wanted to block in coming calls. Flipped the alarms and notifications off and now it works!

Thanks for the help!
