Alarming Food Prices

I had sticker shock today at my local Dillons. Last week I about fainted when I had to pay $7.29 for 85% lean ground beef. I went to buy some today and it was $8.49 a pound. What the hell are young families surviving on? When my family was young we fixed many meals with ground beef trying to make our money stretch. I'm sorry... eight and a half bucks for quality ground beef is ridiculous!

almost all meats, whether beef or chicken, the prices has sky rocketed. most of the beef are any where from$70 on up. it's insane. i have not had a ribeye from costco in months. the only thing that is relatively cheap are the beef ribs and lamp chops. at least chicken, though the prices have gone up, are cheaper than beef. i might look into some porkchops over the weekend.

also just shopping at costco is crazy insane. i used to be able to get $150 and get a ton of stuff....not now. its more like $200 bucks now.....just ridiculous!!!!

Ribeye is still the same price at Kroger here, as is most other meats, 'cept the 85% hamburger is up over 22 dollars a 5 lb roll, (4 dollars a lb).

Sounds like California is just about maxxed out for supporting all them illegal freeloaders ...

I never thought of California at all, except for the high prices.

I did not buy because I still have a decent stock vac sealed and froze. Costco's 88% lean was up to $5.49 if I recall correctly. Kroger is over eight dollars a pound for their 85% lean.... ouch!

Just picked up one of these at Kroger the other day :

(4.60 lb ?) The grease makes for good taco meat dishes ...
