album art

Yes

You can either do it manually. Download the album art on your PC then rename it AlbumArt (capital (A)lbum(A)rt) then put that into the folder of that album. Or download one of the several music players that can download the album art for you

Yeah, the default music player is a bit temperamental when it comes to adding the album art.

The only way I've managed to do it so it works all the time is to tag each song with the album art, calling the image AlbumArt and then adding a subfolder called music to the media/audio location, anywhere else and the album art seems to not appear at random times.

Also, once I've put the music on my SD Card I then delete the albumthumbs folder and empty the trash.

Then on the Desire I rescan the SD Card using an app called SDRescan.

Seems long winded but it's the only way I've found whereby the album art is always there and doesn't disappear.

There's an app in the marketplace which is superb. Finds stuff iTunes and Gracenote have never gotten near - and it's free.

No. That EMBEDS the album art into the files. It physically puts the picture in each and every song. Not tagging it.

My guide works flawlessly every time and has done for many, many devices I've owned in the past and is much simpler.

Odd. Mine did. I've done most of my library this way because it was the only way to get it to work with my previous phones. But on my Desire they work straight away (because I've already embedded the art) and I don't need the extra folders and images.

EDIT:

You should make a guide as well, or if you like I can add your instructions to my guide?

I am still working on this problem too.
What I found is that all MP3's I copied to the phone have the album art, all wma's have not.

Don't use wma because it's a really crappy format. If needs be transcode to mp3 (maintain the same bitrate) Not ideal, but it'll work.

I just make a folder for the album and put the jpg in it, copy over to Desire and job done, art shows with correct album; easy peasy ;)
