Is there a way to set a custom text alert for each contact/friend on my phone. Also ring tone for contact/friends? Like if my friend mark calls, it will play the game of thrones ring tone. Or if Chris calls it will play the walking dead ring tone or alert on text. I set i certain tone to individual friends. I had the Iphone before this phone and had the option to do this. Does the LG G2 let you do this? Also can you set custom alert sounds on the game alerts? The life is good sound alert is annoying and for some reason when i change it to a different one of the set thats on there and always plays that one no matter what i set it on, strange. On game alerts, im asking same thing like the ring tone and alert sounds. Can you set a custom sounds on there alerts when they alert you? Like have there alert do a bottle cap opening noise of something along those lines. Please let me know. Still learning the phone.

I don't know if the stock contact app in the G2 does it, but there definitely are contact apps that do. Google Contacts Sync (I can't remember where I got it, but I think it's the Kit Kat Contacts app) has a separate ringtone and a separate "text-tone" for each contact. I'm sure many others do too. (No, I'm not running Kit Kat - it runs fine on 4.3.)

I tried that, it doesnt let you set different tones to different contacts. Text message alerts as well. Just doesnt work.

Also, thank you Rukbat. I just downloaded KitKat Contacts and it doesnt let me open app. I get the message unfortunately KK Contacts has stopped. It gives me that message every time i try to open it. Does KitKat Launcher Prime let you do that? its $2 on the store. Its by Ovidos Creative. Or any chance you know if any others? Or what i type in google to find more?

What method are you using? If you go to the individual contact, you can't change the ringtone on the overview. Instead, you have to press on the edit button at the top (looks like a pencil), then change the ringtone on the edit contact screen that comes up.

If that still doesn't work, there may be a bug in KK. I just tested on 4.2.2 and it's working.

Your right, it does let you do different ring tones to different contacts but in the edit option it doesnt have the text message alert sound edit option. To set different text alerts to certain contacts.

Try HANDCENT SMS from the GOOGLE Play Store.

I haven't used it myself (recently),however,the description seems to address notification sounds for individual contacts.

Yes, use Contacts to set individual ringtones for callers, and then a 3rd party SMS app to set individual notification sounds for texters. You would lose the native SMS app's ability to run in a window but you would get individual ringtones and notifications this way.

As an aside (for those interested), the ability to set individual ringtones by contact may have varied by carrier in stock 4.2.2. But I believe that in Kitkat 4.4.2, that it may now be enabled for everyone (just going by forum posts on that). For example, on Rogers 4.2.2, I could not edit contacts to set individual ringtones, but on 4.4.2, I can now.

Just to add to KLOTAR's post on carriers/ringtones,on T-Mobile (4.4.2 KIT KAT), you can assign individual ringtones, just not individual SMS/MMS tones.
