All EVO 4G Wallpaper thread

The homescreen is 800 pixels in length and 480 pixels wide. The thing is, as you swipe between the 6 other panels, the wallpaper shifts a tad bit so you need to compensate for that. 960 pixels wide should be what all 7 panels are from end to end, not just the home panel.

Ahh, thank you. New to Android as you can tell.

Very cool, and nicely done. You also happened to use my favorite wallpaper, and current "go to" selection whenever I use a static pic. :)

One very minor correction, however. The portion of the canvas shown by the far left (screen 1, assuming Home is screen 4) and far right (screen 7, assuming Home is screen 4) desktop panels don't actually extend to the very edge of the picture canvas. There's actually about 10-20 pixels on each side which only show when you attempt to scroll left past screen 1 and right past screen 7.

I only point this out in case people attempt to design some wallpaper that has important detail on the far left or right edges.

So it needs to be 960X480?

This is by far the best wallpaper I have seen. Coming from an iPhone 3GS and going to an android EVO soon ... this totally fits the moment.

Thanks for the compliments--I actually whipped that up because I wasn't exactly sure how the scrolling worked, and wanted to see. I didn't know about the fact that the extremes of the sides aren't shown on the actual home screens--thanks!

Any of you photoshop wizards care to create something involving the US Men's National team and/or the World Cup? I'll e-love you forever. Thanks!

Do you have any kind of team picture? Google is being quite a failure at finding anything good, IME.

When designing for 800x960, does that 800 go "behind" the notifications bar, or does it start "under" it? It may seem like a dumb question, but I haven't seen this covered anywhere.

Just loaded a few of these 800x960 wallpapers on the EVO. It makes you choose a sub size of the pic to display. I wonder if they're forcing lower res for the background or that is the wrong size in general. Trying to see if I can figure out what it's up to...

Scrap that, forgot to resize the green selection thingie. 800x960 is the correct size once you stretch the selection box.

Glad you pointed that out for the folks new to 2.1. When choosing a static wallpaper, if you're starting with a properly sized 960x800 picture, just maximize the selection box before finalizing your choice. Alternately, there are some wallpaper tools in the Market that allow you to skip this step, but I've never bothered with them.

i love this thread!

i don't understand. should images be 800x960 or 960x800? thanks

edit: nevermind. they should be 960x800 as it's the same res and the Incredible
