so. I tried to use the root process they used on the Lg motion, I ran into a problem with the "IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed" app. when I tried opening it, it would force close. That's the only thing I see that maybe keeping that root from working.
Your a brave man. Definitely took one for the team.:thrasher:

I'm glad you started this thread so we can focus on root here.

I knew it wouldn't work but i tried the Lg Esteems root also. I just kept saying permission denied and rebooting the phone to try and get it

i think the motions root uses an apk that's suppose to hack the backup app. but its made for the older version of the app:( I think if we had an updated version of that apk hack we'd have root

I wonder....can that file be edited to have root?

Would this be useful? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097754

I found a download link earlier but now I've lost it. I'll update if I find that the again.

There is a link at the end of the first post in this thread.

I tried taking a look at it but apparently this laptop is lacking the proper net framework, and I'm lacking the proper Internets.

Hopefully LG has no idea about this.....sbf was just a Motorola thing for the longest time.

SBF's are just for motos, and they arent even used anymore (newer models use fastboot). lit is your best shot at getting root for righjt now. the lg backup app is obviously patched, its a system app so you cant edit it or mod it or anything without root (see teh dilemma?

what is great news however is that we know thw app has been patched, so chances are the next update for teh lg motion will not be rootable. so motion owners will at least have that much of a heads up :)

Wonder why E wasn't patched...makes no sense to me. Unless they figured out how to patch it while E was already in the works.
OTA root keeper is probably gonna be used a lot now..
I'm glad we have the old rootable firmware :p

I think with android being open source, these manufactures should be band from locking the bootloaders, really they are infringing on our freedom of expression, have they not learned from the apple backlash!!!

What happens if you just run the .bat file used to root the Motion without opening the systembackuptest app?

it just keeps rebooting the phone, while saying permission not granted, I don't think this phone will get root. Not a lot of people have it, and the big boy phone hackers aren't interested in it. Sooo if you buy it you are using it as is.

I think we need to be patient for root. The phone has only been out for a little over a week.

It has been selling out in Metro stores which is a good thing. My local corporate store was sold out, so I purchased 1 of 2 left at another Metro store nearby.

I purchased this phone expecting to wait 1 to 2 months for root. In the meantime I'll enjoy it as is. ;)

Took about 1 or 2, maybe 3 for root to come to Motion...

when I bought my spirit they said I was the first one to buy one there. Every ones buying the sgs3

bnb does have a point, if LG doesn't change their anti-freedom ways, the spirit might be the last lg phone i ever buy. :eviltongue:

naw right now everyone's getting taxes back, so they will spend the money on the phone that is perceived as being the best on the market. My cousins mom just got her taxes back and all of them went to get the s3. Even after playing around with my Spirit. The Media tells them the SGS3 is the best phone, so that's what they buy. Like the apple fan boys:rolleyes:
