Root All rooted and everything is good but....

I rooted my phone yesterday and I'm impressed with how fast and fluid my phone is moving from screen to screen. Now, I've used Titianium Backup to Freeze MetroPCS' stock apps and I've already had Juice Defender on my phone for a long while to help preserve the battery, but even with all that I went to lunch today with my battery 95% after lunch was done it was 86% with minor use of the 4g.

When I checked the phone and see what's using the battery, Android System was using 97% of the power.

When back to TB and checked the storage for all I see:

System ROM: 1.01GB (575MB Free)
Internal: 1.58 GB (1.16GB Free)
SD Card: 4.29 (1.58GB Free)
Ext. SD card: (1.38 GB Free)

^^ I'm assuming the phone has a built in SD Card or something and the external one is in fact the one I put in the phone.

Even with being rooted, freezing apps and moving all my downloaded apps to the SD card it seems that my battery efficiency hasn't changed much.

I have LG Esteem MS910 SW Version: ZVD

I just want to know whats going on and how I can change it.

I would do an experiment... Uninstall juice defender and see what battery life you get out of it. In some cases when not configured properly, juice defender will consume more battery than it preserves.

When I had the esteem I installed rom #2 v2.5 after rooting of course, and got about 26-40 hours of battery with moderate to heavy use without a battery saving app.

Also if your not using gps... disable it.
If you have no use for google maps... uninstall it.
Yes... the phone has an internal sd.

Hope this helps

Glad to see u got the esteem rooted but i need to ask a question and u may know this but does your phone lag or move slow your system is getting low i know when my esteem got to 80 i had a major slow phone . So you may need to get a bigger sd card and move some apps to your sd card . And if u seeking another sd card try to get a class 10. With what ever gigs you want up to 32gigs. But if its running slow give it a few days no rom just up and run quick and make sure the set cpu is at the correct speed you want .

I would install roms and whatnot but I'm so scared to mess up my phone. I'm just taking a more indirect means of controlling it while trying to get the maximum output I can.

Do you mean 80% Android usage?

After I rooted the phone everything got faster, I have no issue with lag anymore.

The SD Card issue, I only have a 2gb Ext. SD Card.. you think that might be the issue?

and you confused me after this "no rom just and run quick and make sure the set cpu is at the correct speed you want" <---- don't understand

Well i understand you are new to this but when flashing a new rom you need to let settle for at least 24 to 48 hours . Remember you have wiped and changed the systems folder and altered it with a new one . Now that it settle and it is still slow or lagging u need to set the cpu higher . Some roms start out at 245. This may need to be higher to 545.

Do you have rom tool box or set cpu app

Will this help my battery not die so fast? I'm going to test it tonight when I go to bed and see how much power is left when I wake up. The only thing I do like is that I'll use my phone for 10mins and lose 10% battery life. It irritates me. Hopefully this helps

Your screen will always be the biggest battery drain. That's just life at this point.

Playing with your CPU min and max values may have a slight effect on battery life, but there are many more direct ways of getting battery savings.

Have your screen brightness as low as you can and still operate it, use WiFi whenever possible, if you are in a poor reception area and don't need data, toggle it off. The list can really go on and on.

Personally, I'd also ditch any battery saving app.

Question is it better to freeze or delete the apk files for the apps? I have a metro LG Esteem SW: ZVD has a lot of Bloatware.

I've just frozen a bunch of apps to see if it will improve battery life to see what will happen.

Chances are, neither freezing them or uninstalling will drastically affect battery life. Most bloatware apps aren't using resources constantly. Its more just to free up space than anything.

I have yet to install a number 2 rom for it, but I'm looking forward to doing it. I may need to look into a bigger SD card also, my current one only has 2gbs

Thank you GameTheory and this is probably the cheapest 8GB SD card I have ever seen lol.

Also, have you heard of Directory Bind and do you use it?

One more question what's the better app Rom Manager or Rom Toolkit?

They do different things. ROM manager is typically used to automate the process of flashing ROMs on devices.

ROM toolkit is mainly used to tweak an existing ROM.

I downloaded both and now I can see the different between them.

I just lost 20% battery power on 2hrs of use, but I went to bed last night woke up and the battery only went down 8%. Do I need to install a #2 rom or a kernal?

I've never used Directory Bind but after reading about it in the link below, it seems like a great app.

As far as Rom Manager vs Rom Toolkit, Rxpert83 summed it up well.

When it comes to the rom, it's about user preference. Personally when I had the esteem I used rom #2 v2.5 which gave me the best performance and battery life. I was getting up to 40hrs with moderate use. (i.e. web browsing, phone calls, texting, and emails)

Just do your homework before you jump into a rom. ;)

Yeah, I've been doing research the last couple days. It's just like I don't learn well by reading I learn faster by watching. So, I have to do research on all the termanology and whatnot to bring myself to ease and understanding. I feel confident in putting the #2 v2.5 in my phone because it's a video made by the same dude who helped me root the phone.

I'm confused about the process before installation and what state does the phone have to be in before you begin. From what I seen all I have to be is rooted and have rom manager installed, but on the video I seen the rom factory reset the phone. Basically, I'm just paranoid cause I don't have the money to replace it so I have to do everything right on the first try.

May i ask what rom are you using

The Rom that came with the phone

Take a deep breath, there's nothing to it. ;)

First... On your phone go to settings/about phone/status
Once there look for SW Version
If it says MS910ZVD then proceed to the link below and follow the video tutorial to install rom #2.

If it says MS910ZVB or MS910ZVC post back the version.

Thank you again, just to make sure...

this file is what I'm putting on my phone correct?

NumberTwo (#2) v2.7

Can I do this with a 2gb SD card or I should buy a bigger one before doing this?
