This is why Samsung continues to fall on their face with every release of Android thus far. No support. Yes, beautiful hardware can draw people in, but dejecting your products like unwanted after-birth is a sure fire way to make people give your brand a wide birth to anything you put out. I'll buy a TV or a washer from Samsung, yes, but never again after the Moment, will I own an Android phone from Samsung.

Yeah, this is my first and last android phone I'll ever buy from them, hardware be damned. Hopefully, my credit card charge back claim will go through, and I can use that money to buy a different phone, and just pop in the sim to the Vibrant once in a while to download new games and whatnot... So it'll become a nice portable entertainment unit. Or, sell the vibrant and have some extra $$, which would be nice too.

Hmm. I'm a bit skeptical about the op's post. I'm not saying he is wrong, but we're already starting to see 2.2 roms for the Captivate. The Vibrant is the same phone. Not sure why they (Samsung) would have success with the Captivate and failure with the Vibrant.

Well, Samsung/TMobile promised us more information this week, so we'll know in the next few days if he's right or if this is just someone playing games.

While I'm very skeptical about the post, it also wouldn't surprise me at all if the time frames turned out to be true, but I'm still putting my money here that this poster is just trying to rile us up.

I'd really say that we should temper the anti Samsung/TMo discussion until we see what they say this week.

Is this is the plan they up with, they'll get slaughtered.

Isn't this the same guy that posted this in the xda forums? If so a thread has already been started about this in this forum. I've read too many stories about friends of friends of friends who work at corporate to take this with a boulder of salt.

Ok I have a friend who's uncle has a niece and her boyfriend has a cousin who knows this guy and this guys girlfriends fathers mother has a brother with a nephew who has an aunt that works at TMO. Give me a f---in break.

To the OP:

Please stop trolling these forums stating that "you have a friend who works for corporate", and then feeding everyone with this bullshit message. I mean dude, seriously? This is probably the same moron who posted this exact same message on the Vibrant forum over at XDA.

If you have a friend who works over at corporate.....it's probably the corporate location at McDonalds and he's part of the custodian crew:p, or the corporate welfare office and he's working on getting approved:rolleyes:

Dude, he's wrong. I mean come on, join date: Oct. 2010, posts: 3. Why would someone join this forum without any credibility and post this message.......BECAUSE HE'S A TROLL!!!

Hey guys, so my friends, friend of a friends, uncle, mom, sister in laws dog who is friend with another dog, who's owner knows someone that works for Samsung (as a janitor) over heard a Samsung rep having a conversation while taking a dump...

So yeah no Froyo for like 10 years or something? If you are like 80 years old you might never get it. But I heard Samsung and T-Mobile is including a new app "Samsung Zombify" supposably you can resurrect loved ones as zombies. Looks neat, need vids tho.

I have the JI6 update on the modem side of my firmware and I now get a GPS lock inside of my condo which seems to be the black hole for any wireless reception or GPS this includes other devices like my friends iPhone4.

the GPS still isn't perfect... but its more than good enough to do whatever i need it to do and more. I dont think there is anything more that I would want out of it than what JI6 is providing. so yes JI6 fixed my Issues.

To reinforce what mavictb is saying here, it's pretty widely held at this point that the JI6 modem is superior to anything we've had so far. Check the xda forums if you wish to obtain it.

indeed... on top of that it has increased my call reception by 100-200% in my condo which every provider seems to have crappy reception in my condo. Now I can make and receive calls inside with no issues when before it was not possible without drops.

WOOT WOOT! "JI6" Congratulations! Great news! Way to Go! PlowRox

Well woke up and could be my imagination but the phone deff feels snappier not as much lag getting into and around on it, opening stuff changing menus etc.

As far as the GPS goes...there is great news and side effects!

Great news is it finally locks on/in to the birds very fast! under 20 seconds!

Weird part is at least once in each of the 3 tests that I used it in...sitting at stop lights ...the gps seemed to drift...as if i was down the street...it would tell me to make a uturn or make left/right turns...course corrections....then when the light changed and I got moving again it would snap back to where I really was.... very very weird my garmin nuvi sure as heck don't do that!

The course tracking was spot on...never lost any birds and have the Google nav maps crash like it was doing before!

So other than it "drifting" while I was stopped this is a HUGE improvement from the way it was before!

Stuff not GPS that was changed:
a] New Task Manager... very nice
b] Voice input for text messages
c] Media Hub loads (I didnt click thru the EULA to see how it works..)

I haven't had time to really play around and read up on all the changes...so if I have missed something...oh well :)

Enjoy :)

I had exactly the same experience with the GPS, including the drift while stopped at a light.
I used it on my way to work this morning and didn't even use my dash holder but stuck it in the cup holder, and it locked and held.

Re Media Hub: I registered and downloaded an episode of 30 Rock for laughs, and it's gorgeous! A/V sync seems right on, too. Haven't clicked around all that much but it seems the rental options are far fewer than the buy options.

At first, I was a little less than excited with the GPS results improvement after updating to the official OTA JI6 with Odin. I was getting the same old performance in Google Maps as before, yes I could navigate but occasionally I was getting slow lock and slow position location.

Sure I was seeing and locking more birds with GPS Test and LbsTest and doing so much faster than ever. Like seeing 12 birds and locking 8 in 6000+ms indoors. Sounds great, but why was Google Maps acting the same sluggish way occasionally? It didn't make sense and couldn't be hardware.

My wife (I know - of all people

) said "Try uninstalling and reinstalling Google Maps honey."

Well I'll be darned! Un-freakin-believable! Now my real world (aka Google Maps) results match my GPS testing app results! Blazing fast GPS. My position shows up consistently and immediately. Score another one for the wife! I picked a good one... ;)

Evidently something was corrupted in my Google Maps install...

mine is excellent now, as i've previously stated. though i did clear all the googlemaps data and updated it after reading your post.

i dont usually update apps unless i have to due to an issue im having. too many times i've seen ''WORKED FINE UNTIL I UPDATED''

How did you uninstall Google Maps?

Google maps is a widget so you arent really uninstallng it are you? Correct me if im wrong.

Technically, probably not, however I believe you can uninstall the updates and then reinstall them. And now under notifications the entry for Google Maps shows "successfully installed."

Go to Market, search for Google Maps, click on it when it is found, the choice to "Uninstall Updates" appears on the lower left.

Just install the updates again? ..Nevermind, I see it on your post.

Is everyone's gps working after the ji6 update? I have noticed no improvement at all.

Not sure that helped. I am in the house . 30 seconds on test and 7 sattelites shown, no locks yet. But again, im in the house. 11 in view now after a minute.
