AllShare, what do you use it for?

Yup its a Samsung. No setup required. I've never so much as opened the allshare app...OK that's not true. I opened it once, saw it asking me to sign up, then closed it :)
 
Isn't the S3 supposed to support DLNA? I have a Panasonic TCP50S30 plasma TV which supports DLNA and is connected to my home network via wired ethernet. On the Panasonic I can use it's DLNA browser to browse content on my PS3 and Computer. Shouldn't I be able to send videos and photos to the TV from my GS3? When I click that TV icon it only shows my WDTV Live Player and nothing else. What the heck?

I just wanted to say thank you, I didn't even know you could do this and it worked seamlessly on my TV. I don't even have to mess with Allshare anymore. THANK YOU!
 
I have a Samsung TV and a Galaxy Note. Allshare works - I can connect to the TV and stream movies, music and photos from the phone to the TV set.

BUT....the Allshare app doesn't seem to have any way of filtering what to show. My photos are stored in a proper file system structure - year/month/event but when I go via Allshare, it shows me every photo I have on my SD card...thousands.

Same with videos and same with music.

I don't want to scroll through all my photos for the few I want to show and I don't want some of (the more.....obscure downloaded) videos showing when I want to show family stuff.

Any workaround for JUST displaying stuff in one folder?
 
I use All Share all the time I make videos of my kids and play them on the big screen TV and the kids think they are on TV :)
 
I was using it from both my S3's until I discovered IT was the reason why my battery was draining in 4 hours. Had to turn it off and sign out of it. Haven't used it since.

Yup.... hate it... got AllSharePlay on my Galaxy 3s and Windows 7 PC to work together... great... now I have a zillion music files, not sorted in any way...not by album or artist or anything.... makes finding and playing music a pain... as well as now I have a zillion new pictures showing up because of all the album art... thanks lots Samsung!

My best guess is that AllSharePlay is best used for "transferring" files from one device to another... and then use some other 'player' to (hopefully) arrange them by artist and album.... but I have not tried that yet.... I may just go back to my original plan, which was to attach my G3s to my PC with the USB cord and put in a 32G microSD card in the G3s and then copy over my music files to the card... then most likely a standard player on the G3s will be able to find the music files and have then sorted by artist and album.... now how difficult would it have been for Samsung to do this in the first place with AllShare??? Again... not impressed with Samsung's rapid technology advance without some good thought and programming behind it... let alone the HORRIBLE Samsung support that is available today... it used to be such a wonderful company... sorry to see it spiral downward.... :(
 
I've used AllShare with my Smart TV and it does work...to a point. I'm having trouble beaming a movie on my S3 to the TV itself. It comes up with jumbled pixels and no actual picture or sound. Could this possibly be the file type of the movie that's the issue? It's a wmv file. But it will play my mav files just fine and looks amazing. Can anyone help with this..?
 
Allshare doesn't install on Linux based machines, strange when you think about the roots of the Android OS. So no, I don't use it and didn't bother installing it when I updated my ROM. Plenty of other media sharing apps out there that are cross platform and work!!
