Help ally shutting off constantly

My ally has started shutting down constantly. Even if the battery is at 80% it will shut down. It only happens when I open an app or am browsing the web. When I turn the phone back on, sometimes battery goes back to 80% other times it says insert battery and at times it is at 20% or less. I've noticed if I put phone in airplane mode I can browse the phone without it shutting off. Also if i have it plugged into a charger it never shuts off. I've ordered a new battery to try. Phone is stock, no root and on froyo 2.2.

Any help would be appreciated. I've had phone about a year and have done the 50% bug fixes. This phone is close to earning frequent flyer miles!

Ally will not power off when charging - this is normal
Phone says insert battery - Mine does this when I overheat
50% bug - just a reporting issue, does not do anything functional to the phone

coming back to different battery statistics after reboot - Maybe need to wipe battery stats, but Im not sure how to do that without being in recovery and being rooted.

being able to browse without reboot if in airplane mode - no clue here.

I would try to wipe battery stats first, and try your new battery. Otherwise
I would say it sounds like you might need to try to wipe it and start over.

I've done this multiple times and this does not help. I feel like this has only made the problem worse.

I would buy a new battery but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I have an upgrade in a few months anyway.

Time to get a new battery. Try getting the extended battery off the internet(they have a factory one somewhere). After a year or so the battery starts degrading significantly and doesnt carry enough current to keep the radio and cpu going at higher demand. Thats why airplane mode works most of the time, it will just continue to get worse until it shows bad battery.

I bought a new battery from Amazon for $4 and change. No more problems so far. I'd suggest doing that, it was just over five bucks with shipping.
