Almost got to buy the Epic early

dude, i would have cried foul and demanded satisfaction. my better half is going to hate me when i bring home this device. we both are currently on the samsung instinct, original. just that we can't afford both right now and this is a present for me.
 
Wait hold on a sec so they activated those lines anyway even after they messed up and couldn't let you walk out of the store with your phone? WOW, talk about commission hungry assholes, did they at least offer you a discount on the phone(s) for your trouble? If they couldn't sell you the phone the LEAST they could do is call Sprint deactivate the lines and tell retentions it was their fault and leave it at that, your 30 day Sprint guarantee period started before you even had any phone to try out just so you know, don't expect to be able to return 30 days from the purchase date but 30 days from when the mistake was made and the lines were activated. It's Sprint's policy, don't go by whatever Radio Shack tells you they have absolutely no power over that.
 
Yeah, the phones were activated and contracts signed before they tried to ring them up in the cash register. So at the time, the employees didn't know that the phone couldn't be sold. I knew I probably wouldn't get to buy it early, but figured I'd try since they called me and said to come pick it up. I was the most surprised that Sprint let the phones be activated early. I figured they would try to activate them and Sprint's computer system would tell them no.

I could have had them deactivate them and do it all over again on Tuesday, but now I can just walk in and pay for the phones and walk back out. I didn't push for any kind of discount, since I knew it was a gamble. So I lose 5 days of the return period, which is significant, but that is okay. I still have over 3 weeks to make sure the phone is working alright.
 
BTW, here is the Epic case that Radio Shack sold my wife. It was $14.99.

I been looking at these cases on ebay and every one I have seen does not have a hole for the Notification LED, which is right by the FFC on the left side. I guess you can always drill or make a hole. I was thinking of getting a clear case just for that reason.
 
So happy to read your post. I got the call from my local RS on Friday afternoon, telling me my Epic was in and I could come pick it up. I doubled checked to be sure what he said and he confirmed I could buy the phone. I was closer to my kids school than RS, so I went on and got my daughter first and before I got to the store, he called back and said his manager just informed everyone they couldn't sell the phone till Tuesday. I was having some regrets about not abandoning my daughter to grab the phone, but once I read where you couldn't check out, that made me happy. But I am sorry you had to suffer being so close to having it! Thanks for the post!

I've tried to secretly throw it away but she always catches me :p She holds onto it for dear life:D One time we were even shopping for an oven and she wouldn't let us buy the nice one because she said she wouldn't know how to use it with all its "fancy buttons":confused:

its funny, because that is my first sprint phone (still have it in the basement)...i got it almost 7 years ago! lol

I wish the epic was on At & t...I love the galaxy s series phone
and the epic's keyboard looks phenomenal!

I'm sure they're out there but I don't know of many. I tried getting my wife to switch over to Sprint for savings but she won't give up her iPhone. She doesn't want to give up the iCrack. lol
