Help Almost no Sound when recording video on Thunderbolt

When I record video, I get almost no sound. The only sound I get is when I am talking very close to the phone. Anyone else having this issue?

Experiencing the same issue and so are others. Hopefully we will see a fix soon.

I don't know about the fix. I tried 3rd party software and still had the same issue. I am little worried about this..

Apparently it's the built in noise removal - someone mentioned covering the microphone right next to the headphone jack and getting much better results. Fix allegedly in the works.

I just come across this bug in mine as well, yet 'another' bug to this freaking thing. I have nothing on in my house, my mouth is 5 inches from the phone and i am talking at a normal level and I can barely hear myself during playback ....

This phone is 'potentially' a great phone, but all I have been doing is fighting it since I got it.. 1 bug after another, 1 battery pull after another 1 factory reset after another

With the extended battery and case I have $300 invested into this thing and for that kind of money I am getting more and more VERY unsatisfied with all of these features that are not working properly

I 'think' I am still within my 14 days and am very seriously considering returning it, the problem is, there isn't anything much better to choose from ..... though my old 2yr old falling apart Env Touch was giving me less problems than this thing, and all of its features still work just fine.

Welcome to the world of Android Smartphones. They all have some sort of bugs, you will never find one that works 100%. You just have to decide which bugs you can live with.

As far as android phones go, the minor bugs that the TB has is nothing compared to many other crappy Android phones.

Also, can't forget the price you pay for getting ANYTHING so early after release. The same thing even happens to Cars. You buy it, things will be wrong, they fix it, you move on.

see, honestly, I think 'that' attitude is the overall problem,.. It seems most people seem to expect and accept that these devices are NOT going to work 100% properly . Which is why they know they can continue to get away with releasing products that are not 100%. If we all did not accept this, and returned them right from the get go, they might get the hint that for our hard earned money we EXPECT a product that actually works as it is SUPPOSED TO .

If I am to accept that this product is not going to work 100%, than they should not expect me to pay 100% for it.

Look at this forum alone (then alone countless others) this phone has not even been out a month yet and look at the amount of bugs/complaints (features not working as they should) . That type of quality control we should NOT accept.

in all honesty, all these bugs are just making more excited about the updates i already think the thing is a beast and is amazing. imagine how much better it will be when they send an update that will make sound, battery, and smoothness even better!

Slippery slope arguments are a silly way to get any point across.

And your previous point, the phone SHOULD work 100% right out of the door, and it's unacceptable otherwise. While that's a valid thought and want, it's unrealistic. I haven't seen something released that was perfect EVER. If a business wants to make money on anything, they can't spend an extra 6 months to a year just doing extra quality control when they can easily release a patch to fix it down the road. If the phone was just downright broken, sure, I'd be upset. But low volume on a video recording....hardly important enough, and quite easy to see how they missed it.

Also, all the money they'd be paying people to do MORE quality control on the phone, plus overhead...would you be happy to be paying that much more for the phone? OR wait a month or two for a patch that WILL come out and fixes most of the small bugs.

I hear what your saying, but it's not just the volume thing, I am on my 3rd Thunderbolt , 1st one had bad power button , so countersunk you could barely turn on the phone. Second one google sync was so messed up, VZ tech's could not even get it working, so Im now on my third, and am discovering every other day there is a new bug im discovering, gps not working right, weather widget not working right, message notifications changing on there own, or not working at all. I'm just tired of fighting this phone, doing battery pulls, resets, or hunting for an 'app' as a 'work-around' to a feature that 'should' just work.

I was just on the phone with them and they told me that after I exchanged my 1st one, 'that' ended my 14 day return .... hmmm, pretty customer friendly policy ayyy ? ... I should probably make a new post about this so everyone is aware of that

I hear what you're saying. It's not the hardware malfunctions that I'm really talking about, sorry. I meant the bugs in the actual phone. I had a volume rocker that was stuck (Which a lot of people have had apparently) and a new phone fixed that for me. Not sure what the big problem was with that...

But as for problems with the OS and what not, yeah only time and a lot of people playing with a phone will show these issues, thus they will release a fix. Not sure how people are getting phones with the screen DETACHED from the phone (Now, my question is how did THAT get through Q&A, lol). Back to my car analogy, even cars have Lemons

Android isn't for everybody.

Perhaps you should consider getting an iPhone, they are more restrictive as far as what you can do with them, but they have less issue for the most part. Maybe you'd be happier.

I was able to convince customer service to let me return the T-Bolt ... Though I wasn't able to escape the $35 restocking fee. Don't get me wrong, I also think it's 'potentially' an awesome phone, once/if they get all of the bugs out of it. However for the money I paid, I didn't feel I should have live with the current bugs in hopes that at some time in the future an update may come out that hopefully will solve all of the problems or maybe not. I know products, especially electronics have there share of bugs, but I think this phone has too many to accept. This phone was just released and look at this forum alone, then alone all over the net. There are just to many glitches popping up for my taste, many of which I also experienced. The salesmen at the store (who said he just bought the Bolt) didn't even know about the low/no volume video issue, so I showed him right there, taking a quick video in the store, it was almost funny watching him stick his head closer to the phone trying to actually here anything, which he couldn't. He said that was pretty bad and he was going to have to check his own Bolt concerned about the issue.

willdogs === you say maybe an android phone is not for me, ... I think a very expensive phone that doesn't work properly is not for me .....would be a more accurate way to put it... .. I did nothing but wrestle with the T-Bolt for the entire 2 weeks I had the 3 of them, I decided enough was enough. I was wondering if I would miss all of the 'good' features about it, but frankly, I am finding myself happy to be out from under it, even though I'm currently back to my crappy old Env Touch ....

As far as the iPhone suggestion, I actually am considering it. From my research, and people I know that either had or have one and even from the very rep that handled my return tonight ALL agree that, though it may have a few of its 'own' issues, is probably the most solid, reliable phones there is. It may lack a few of the bells and whistles of the Droid phones and may be a bit less customizable, it does have its own array of bells and whistles and is seemingly for the most part a rock solid phone. Which is what I want, a phone that is reliable and just works. I don't have a lot of experience with it myself, but played with it for a bit tonight in the store, and had a very positive first impression. The screen, though obviously is smaller than the Bolt, it has higher resolution and is very noticeable, almost makes the Bolt screen look blurry. And yes, I did try the video really quick, and I was actually able to hear something out of the speaker... haha

Now, the question is, go for the iPhone 4 now, or limp along with my old falling apart phone until the next roll out of new phones, perhaps even waiting for the iPhone 5 to show its presence ....... ???

I would wait for the iPhone 5... Should be dropping around June.

if you get the iPhone 4 now, you will be regretting it in a few months and feel left behind while everyone else has upgraded to the Iphone 5.
