i started all over lastnight and flashed numbertwo v3.0.1 and fone seems to be doing alot betr, except bt was giving me a prob, and before i didnt need to flash the bt fix for my bt ear piece but when i tried to tether to my nexus pdanet+ worked before i started over, but now it didnt, and the wifi tether worked then it didnt,so thats when i flashed the bt fix and all is working now but it changed theme, but like i said to brainz, ive got time to relax ( drs orders ) im gonna keep tinkering around to see where i get and what i end up with lol, hopefully my fone doesnt kick the bucket on me lol

Each one has their own preference. I'm not here trying to tell you guys what to do but it seems that rooting your phone and installing these ROMs will actually slow your phone down. I have been running my old Esteem in its out of the box state and its been running flawlessly even with all of the Google apps updated. The battery seems to be lasting a lot longer than what it did when it was rooted. When I had it rooted, it would die in about a day even with the 1700 mAh battery I have on it. It's been running on stock for a few weeks now and that same battery can last up to three days. DISCLAIMER: the phone is not in service and hasn't been since December. I root and unroot it several times because I use it occasionally to check my emails when my daily driver is charging in a different room. Also, its been running on the ZVD because the phone isn't in service.

I would say that might be true but who wants to be on stock? Its just no fun.:)

So are you saying lagging like hell is funner? lol

I'm on debloated stock , rooted ZVE and it's great, no lag great battery life and with my Go launcher it looks like it always has since number2 was running on my phone. I was on 2.5 forever but I started to notice the lag issues on the newer versions. I'll stick to stock until I buy a new phone this one has been great but I'm ready for dual core and jellybean...lol

Whatever floats your boat and milks your goat.

Yes, ive noticed when i was waiting to see if the ota would come threw my phone did run smooth, but the years of running #2. 2.5 ( phone was damn near perfect) i just couldn't get use to the stock, the jellybean, i can do without on my phone, ive gt the nexus 7 w/4.3, its jus a few bumps in the road with the merging, once there settled, they will hav us fixed up, prob a zvf update or something, but cant have it all when your tampering with the phones, as we speak theres guys here looking into the lags, freezes, and so on, they'll have us up and running soon!! Bet that ; )

The fact of the matter is a rooted odexed rom (factory state rooted) , technically speaking, will run smoother than a rooted deodexed one (custom rom) . What that means to you all is, if you want the rooting experience and care not about themeing or major modz then root and debloat, that's your best bet; on the other hand, if you suffer from OCD and can't go 2 days w/o having to boot into recovery just to see how pretty it looks, then deodexed is for you.

Notice I'm only talking about odexed and deodexed and not bout overclocking. On a stock rom being odexed or deodexed makes a huge difference. And you will rarely find yourself deodexing your rom as custom ones come already deodexed, hence why we flash them.

Well I have to say my phone HAS to be rooted...lol love having lots of options(ROMS,themes,OC) and had been on #2 v2.5 for a long time. I tried all the rOM that have been released since the Esteem came out. Having said that, I guess my tastes have changed from looks to functionality. I loved everything on 2.5 but when I got to the later versions I had horrible lag that made my phone almost unusable.

I have to admit I miss a lot of the features on the custom ROMs but I need my phone to preform all the time, not sometimes or hang when I really need it and having to wait for a reboot. When this phone was released it sucked donkey balls, if it wasn't for the great ROMS released I would had sold it and got something else, so I'm grateful for all the hard work it's been put into it and I have donated to a few devs.

What I mention about the stock ROM is just for the ones having lots of problems and want a quick fix until the kinks get worked out. Most devs are busy on newer phones so who knows when that will be...lol

you say your device last on battery power its due to no service. if a rooted device disable the data sync and do it manually we would last also. but now being on stock as the other user said and i have to agree with him this phone lags when typing and lags when a call comes in . its not so much rooting as i found out. the big thing is where you at to receive signal and a good no problem stock software so a dev or modder can come along and make a true build/rom. without a problem stock firmware, this is where we are doomed :D:smokingsomb: these problems cause the rom/build dev to make what he can work with and if he has junk as a firmware thats what he can produce :rolleyes:now that falls into our hands to find the problems and find a fix so the dev can produce a problem free rom/build:D

well latsnight i got fed up with the typing lag,the slowness of the phone,so i took advive from scarey alien i believe he wroyte about the roms, and decided to try it,im currently on the Stock Root DeOdex DeBloated - ,i knmow it looks stock and all but ,i do have to say its running alot smoother and no lags, just havent messed with it to see wat all its capable of ? ill prob flash something else again tonight, brainz wen u gt some time pm me,got a couple questions, maybe we can come up with a fix for now ?

This what I've been trying to tell you guys having problems. Just use the debloated stock, reroot it and you can do anything you were doing b4. Yeah it's not as fun as the custom ROMs but lag frustrates the hell out of me. It's not completely gone either but I hardly see it. It's a hardware problem, we don't have enough RAM and that will never get fixed no matter what anyone does. It is what is. I bought my the LG motion for $29 and it outperforms the Esteem, too bad screen is way too small for my taste.
Anyway I use Go Launcher and it runs smooth and looks good, plus with ROM toolbox I changed the status bar icons so It doesn't look stock.
