Root Alright...I'm an idiot!

I'm trying to install CTMod 3.68 on mine and my GF's phone. I want to use SSM and NOT Data. I can't seem to get the setup done correctly. The partitioning on the SD Card is where I'm screwing up I believe. I've used Kouma's SD Formatter app and the partitions won't stick. I ODINed back to FE16 Rooted then installed CTMod. The format/partitioning then setting it up for SSM is where I'm dumb for some reason. I've done this before for older CTMod but I can't get it working now. Now, before I get berated, I did drink last night so my mind/memory probably isn't working at 100%. LOL. Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't have much luck with the sd formatter app either so I just formatted my card using the older instructions on the kouma kernel thread:

Near the bottom of the first post you'll see a section that says Old Instructions with a button that says show. Click on that and follow those directions. Worked for me!

make a cwm backup first and then save all sd to pc
if haveing trouble just use cwm to partition card (this will wipe the card) and then put this on sd card and go back into cwm and flash this.View attachment SSM_Wipe_Dalvik-swap2ext4formatter.zip

also for me to get the partitioning tool to work, you have to unmount all sd partitions, even the just one partition.

These???

1) Boot into Recovery
2) ADB shell into the phone
3) Run "sdparted -i"
4) Pick a size for a swap partition (CWM doesn't give you many size options, most are probably too small)
5) Pick a size for your EXT partition. Let the fat partiton have the rest.
6) When sdparted completes, manually convert the swap partition to ext4 by using the following:

yes those

Alright I've got it working with SSM now. I do have a quick question though. I followed these instructions after I formatted/partitioned the sd card.

Here is the correct process:
1> Partition SD card
2> put CTMOD zip on SD card
3> Install CTMOD
4> Boot phone
5> Select desired configuration in KoumaMod settings
6> Reboot in to recovery and format SD-ext (and SD-swap if applicable)
7> Reboot in to Android
8> install your apps
9> ???
10> Profit

I didn't see an option to format SD-swap. Is it supposed to be there in CWM? I have everything working correctly I believe. I'm just wanting it perfect because I'm OCD with stuff. LOL.

WHat the sd partition app doing? I had great success with it. Partitioned 2-2gb partitions ext4 and a swap of about 200 mb, i have a 16gb card. Took like 10 minutes to complete but it worked...

Edit: i recall what i did to fix this issue, Go in CWM and format the whole sd card then boot the device and run the partition app again, this worked for me.

take the zip i posted here earlier and put on sd card and then go into cwm and find it and flash it it will convert swap to ext4

So there's no need to place the code for the adb shell ? Once the partitions have been created I should exit the window and then flash the zip above? Just to be sure I don't skip any steps. :D

yes. when done flash the zip and it will make the swap ext4.

no adb shell if useing cwm to partition card and still flash zip when done to convert swap to ext4 unless you convert it in adb.

also can flash the zip anytime after to clear the dalvik cache, first reboot might take a bit longer.

Now that's useful!!! Gotta try it out later today.:thumbup::thumbup:

Just to be sure before I go hone and get happy:
1. Make a backup
2. Save all SD files to a desktop
3. Go into CWM and select advanced.
4. Select partition sizes for partitions.
5. Reboot and place files on sdcard.
6. Flash Rom, reboot, flash swap2 ext4 reboot.
7. Set koumamod settings.( in my case SSM) Reboot.
8. Reinstall apps.

yes and for apps reinstall use the play store for fresh install (best way)

a good thing too is make a cwm backup everytime you get something good done, so if you mess something up you can just restore back to where you last left off that was good. and not have to start completely over. you can also move your backups to pc to make more room if have a smaller sd card.
you don't have to make a cwm backup after every step, oneafter rom install, then after ssm is up and running right, then after apps installed, then later after doing something else that works out good, ect.....

Yes I learned the hard way about using fresh installs in CT 3.4. No matter how long it takes I do it like that.
