Also, please what is this......?

I have this symbol on top H
arrow up arrow down

and they flash sometimes - is this the network - I am with Tesco mobile

The arrow up/arrow down are symbols under the capital H

Thanks

H is just your phone telling you it is connected to the internet by the fastest speed available. It used to be 3g but H is one step faster. You will be using data, and if you don't have this free as part of your package you will be incurring extra charges.

You can switch data off... settings, wireless & networks, mobile networks and untiaj data traffic.

thank you so much.that is why my data useage has been so high as I am conected all the time. I've turned it off and hopefully this will stop the problem.

If I go wireless in the house using my own home hub am I still using the allocated internet allowance from my service provider?

The symbol (H with the 2 arrows) had gone from my phone now.

No as long as you are connected to your wifi you won't incur any charges. I tend to use my home wifi for all my apps downloading/updating and keep my data plan for out and about.

Yes thanks. I didnt have my wifi switched on so was using my data allowance all the time. If my wifi is switched on, on my phone and my home hub is on do I automatically use my home hub?

You don't automatically connect to any network, you'll have to tell it which wireless network you want to connect to. For most wireless networks you have to select it when your phone can see it and type in the connection 'password' (usually a word, it's the 'pre-shared key', or PSK). If you have been supplied a network hub by your ISP they should have provided you with the password to allow you to connect.
