Is there a way to change the way the ALT/Symbol key works so that it doesn't change the keyboard layout and instead just let's you press it before pressing a key on the current layout and it will input the number/symbol that is in gray on the key?
I find it jarring when the keyboard look changes and I have to search out the symbol I want. Holding a key for a symbol is too slow. I'd like to just be able to quickly hit Alt/Symbol then an existing key in the current layout to input the symbol in gray listed above it.
Or is there an application that will accomplish this for me?
