Root Alternate Drivers??

I was trying to s-off but controlbear is connecting to my phone, nor can I run the ruu.exe, wondering if there were any alternate drivers I could use

yep I can't get control bear to connect to my phone for nothing, although it did change one time when it started up it said old beer detected, but other than that as soon as i open it, it says failed start up. I even went back to stock and re-rooted my phone
 
Have you temporarily un installed HTC sync, iTunes and any other programs that might try communicating with the phone? Also make sure that usb debugging is enabled and that the phone is set to charge only when connected to usb.

yup, did all of that and still does'nt work. I guess no s-off for me :(
 
Got any kind of Linux experience?

Vista is a flaky os at best.

I would burn a live ubuntu or mint distro and use the Linux instructions.

You can also use a flash drive and unetbootin and boot from a thumb drive if you don't want to waste a cd/dvd.
