Root Alternative Dialer

Hi,

I've switched over to cyanogen and so far everything is perfect!

My only problem is the dialler. I'm used to using T9 for dialling peoples names and their dialler doesn't do that. Is there another fast way to dial people without having to look everybody up in the address book each time or am I simply missing something?

Alternatively, can anybody recommend a GOOD alternative dialler?

Best way is press the search hard key and type the name.

Dialer one and Go Dialer/contacts are supposed to be good but I hate the light look.

Thanks!

I'm trying Dialer One.

Whilst Im asking, I cannot work out how to get back to the in call menu during a call. When I press the phone icon, it takes me back to the dialer! I know I can pull down the toolbar, but I'd like a one click! Any ideas?

What do you mean, like say you browse your phone whilst on a call (press home for example) then get back to the dialer whilst still in the call?

If so, notification bar > Dialer is the only way I know. Or press the Dialer icon and "Return to call"

Both 2 steps.

Hey Dan - I use Go Dialer and it looks pretty dark and mysterious to me...I use the aptly named "Dark" theme - FWIW I think it's pretty good.

I cant find a dialer icon!!

If you mean the one for Dialer One, I cant find the option to return to call!

Im just talking about the standard android dialer. Thats all I use

Its more the Go contacts aspect of the dialer that annoys me. On AOSP I have black background, white text. In Go, its white BG, even with the dark theme.

It wastes my battery

Hmmm, maybe (if you feel so inclined) you should look again - Go Contacts is well dark too....maybe it's been updated since you last took a butchers.

Ok initial thoughts. It's a bit messy compared to the clean look of aosp. Although its dark, its not black. This is more than aesthetics. On an oled screen, pure black is created by turning off the pixels. Anything other than black needs the pixels to emit light.

Agreed. It's better than it was, but I think the Go dev team must not have AMOLED screens. :)

It's still not wholly consistent either - if you view a contact it flips back to a pale background.
