Root Alternative input for recovery

There must be some way to use the touchscreen for input while in the recovery. My damn volume button is about to fall off from scrolling through folders when flashing nightlies. All I could turn up with googling was one year-old thread about some other phone where the edges of the screen moved focus, and the center selected. I'm really hoping someone here has information on doing this with the EVO. Any insight would be appreciated.

I don't believe there is anything that allows touch screen function while in recovery or hboot. That would be a part of the system files I believe. You could try using the volume up button to cycle through folders. :)

No, there is no touch screen input in recovery. However, you can still complete all of the actions seen in recovery using ADB.

I found this thread for the G1 but it should be the same for the EVO as well: [SOLVED] Flash custom ROM with ADB - xda-developers
