Alternative to ASTRO File Manager

I still have the old version (no ads) and it still seems to work as it used to.

Did I do a good thing by not updating to the ad version? Can I just continue using this version as normal?

I don't even get the message about the beta version expiring anymore.

Bump.

It's still working for me, although they upon start up there is a message telling me to download the new version and making me wait 20 seconds or so before I can start using it....

Anyone else still using the old version?

When it was cheaper, the description said it was an introductory price.

All I can figure it it must have been at the "introductory price" for only a few hours. Personally I think $3.99 is a bit steep.

I still have the old version installed. I only use the app manager on it still though.

No 20 second wait to start using EStrong and does everything that Astro did and looks better. Give it a try.

I've switched to Estrong's. I kinda like it. There's some things I think Astro really does do better though. Like hitting the back button making you go backward through the directories you navigated and not just going up one level. Also, the image view was nice in astro, quicker than using default gallery.

I've tried Estrong, but still prefer Astro and I don't mind the ads. One of the things that makes it better than the others is that you get an actual thumbnail of pictures rather than an image icon. It's little things like that make a difference, but to others, it might not matter one bit.

EStrongs has thumbnails disabled by default but they can be enabled under Settings>File Settings.

I just switched from Astro File Explorer to EStrong File Explorer because of the ease to access and browse Windows LAN shares. I also find the interface a little more more intuitive and nicer than Astro's.

But... I just found a problem backing up some applications. Once I start the backup process a couple applications can't be copied. (Messages comes up saying that the app can not be copied) One I can remember is the NYTimes app. Are there any new security schemes that prevent EStrong Application Manager from backing up certain applications? This was not happening with Astro, but I have updated some Apps after removing Astro... including the NYTimes App.
