Alternative to Kies?

Hi,

Got myself a new Samsung Galaxy S2 and just have a question...

Do i have to use Kies to sync music and pictures as id rather just drag and drop stuff onto it if possible. Ive tried dragging and dropping but it didnt show up correctly on the phone?

settings>wireless and network>USB utilitities>Connect storage to PC

can then just connect your phone as external storage and drag and drop files
