NFC tags. They work with apps like NFC Task Manager. Allow you to pre-program tasks that your phone will initiate when you swipe your phone over the tag.
For example: I have one at my work desk, that mutes my phone, I swipe it when I am leaving to go to a meeting. I can swipe it when I get back and it unmutes my phone.

I have never heard of such a thing and I find this very cool! I will have to research to learn a little more about it but in the meantime maybe someone can tell me. Do you assign the tasks to each tag via your phone?
Edit: Looks like several more responses came in while I was typing this. Thanks!

I'd like to use this to tell my phone to shuffle my songs and start playing. Is this possible? I haven't seen anything mention that it can, though it said it can integrate with Tasker, which I think can do whatever it wants.
A few questions on this
1. what sort of size tag do I need when buying generic ones. I need big enough 1 without paying for the 'overkill'
2. can 1 tag change multiple settings or would i need more than 1
3. If the second point is possible can the NFC task launcher that jerofld linked to, change multiple settings.
I'm getting a bit excited and obsessive about these tags but don't want to waste my cash.
Also, does anyone know when the official TecTiles are being launched in the UK as I can't even download the samsung app as it says 'USA and Canada only' when I go to google play store?

1. NTAG203 is plenty big enough and they're the same price as ultralight tags. They also have slightly greater range, making it easier to scan them. If you're in the UK you can get ten of them for
