Always on data setting

Can anyone tell me what exactly turning off the "always-on data" setting does? Specifically, what functionality would I lose by disabling this? I already have Peep set to download things manually, I have a mail account that checks my email every 30 minutes, and I don't even have the Facebook app on my phone. BUT, will this affect the "People" app from downloading Facebook updates, new contact pictures, etc?

Hmm, good question. I honestly never even thought about that one. Hope someone has an answer. Mines checked on, but I turn the mobile network off and on so often anyway, that it probably has no effect.

It is one of the settings which can extend you battery life. USE Google and don't be shy with it... all things can be found out through the all powerful Google, lol
