First and only phone bought full retail was the nexus.

Love the phone since day of launch. Still love it. Does everything i need and i really like the whole van android nexus ordeal.

recently broke my screen.. have insurance so i had another nexus sent out to me. Well, the new nexus's screen was TERRIBLE.. whites were yellow/orange.

Called and stated this, could barely understand their english but i made out "were sending you a black 16gb s3." Caught me off guard and i replied OK.

Am i being an idiot by saying i still want a nexus? or just keep the S3 and put CM10 on it so it will feel like home.

My wife had an S3 and I have to handle the S3 test device at work quite often, I still prefer the Nexus. Hands down, it isn't even a contest with me. The S3 is bigger and shinier, but it doesn't have enough upside for me. If you like the Nexus... keep the Nexus. I would accept the S3 and give it a whirl. If you hate it you can always call them and tell them that you got the wrong phone. Just factory reset it and stick it back in the box. =P

Who handles your insurance on your device?

Just thought i would let any one know who was interested... Nexus it is. Turned the S3 on without activating it and 5 mins later thats where it ended.

Looks like i will always have a Nexus device from here on out. extremely bummed that the N4 isnt on VZW now.

asurian insurance.

theres no question the S3 is the better phone spec wise, and i have heard it is an absolute BEAST with CM10 on it (something i would do anyway)
the only thing holding me back about it is the home button. which CAN be disabled on AOSP ROMs with a little tweak to the build.prop.

but still, having a nexus is an amazing feeling around update time.

I keep looking at the S3 myself - the "better" camera, larger screen, faster processor are probably what the Nexus should have been...

Yeah, but you're also talking 6-8mos difference in release. Remember, the GNex was supposed to be Verizon's replacement for passing on the GSII.

Correct, but 8 mp cameras and 4.8" screens were in existence well before the Gnex release.

It still comes down to support - ROMs fly off the shelves for the Gnex, not-so-much for non-Nexus phones, IMO.

very true. however, i only run either CM or AOKP. and i believe the S3 is officially supported by both ROMs. if insurion threw an S3 my way (especially that sexy black one) i would find it pretty hard to turn down.

better processor, better camera, larger battery and better on battery life, better screen all outweigh the physical home button.
thats just me though.

I'd take just the better battery life...

it would be nice if we could pick and choose.....

give me the S3 minus physical buttons all stuffed into a white Gnex body....mmmmm

anything that is straight from google will always be the better phone, s3 is awesome but still not quite there as far as what the nexus offers... my opinion
