im rooted and just got back from vacation and after going thru security my phone was being wiped when i got it back. i was like WTF. not a big deal cause i have everything on my other phone. bt when the phone starts up it gets to HTC quietly brilliant and just keeps doing that over and over. if i try to start it up in bootloader with the power and vol key it just vibrates 4 times and does nothing then i have to remove the battery to get it to do anything.

I know this isnt helpful, but were you wiping it as it went through security or did it come through and was just being wiped?

When you try to start up in bootlaoder make sure you are holding down on the volume rocker. It should only vibrate if you are holding up. Hope this helps.

+1. Holding vol up and power, which it sounds like you're doing, puts you into Qualcomm diagnostics. To get to the bootloader, you must hold vol down and power.

When I try to get into Fastboot by pressing VOLUME UP and booting the phone, my phone instead buzzes three times and acts dead. What happened?
The S-OFF update also enables Qualcomm Diagnostics mode on your phone, which is entered by doing what you just did. You can exit this mode (and boot normally) by removing the battery and USB cable.

Future reference, a brick is a brick. In other words, you are only bricked if your phone won't power up at all. You are a brick when your phones only function is a brick.
