Indeed it is. From hboot, boot into recovery, and verify that you have Clockwork. Boot the phone up normally, install a terminal emulator from the market, then type "su" without quotes and enter. If the prompt changes from $ to #, you're all done. As long as you didn't get any errors or anything, though, I'm sure it all works.
