Amazon App Store Thread - Daily Free Apps

Dinner Dash 2 (normally $4.99) 3/27/11

Never heard of it but my daughter might have, played it for a min before my phone died few hours ago. Seems to be some sort of restaurant rpg or something, lol

It seems to be getting a lot of poor ratings. It doesn't look too interesting to me. Has anyone played this?

Today's app is Dinner Dash 2.

I tried it and it is a pretty simple game that could easily become addictive. Really basic graphics, but the game is simple and fun. Definitely worth a free download to kill a little time and try it out.

I kinda regret not getting the free swiftkey app. I've never been that happy with the incredible keyboard.

Appbrain is just an external form of the Google Android Market with some cool features. Amazon's Appstore is a new store that may have different apps and pricing. It also has a review process similar to Apple's Appstore in that people are reviewing and curating the app's that appear on the Amazon store.

Do you think that the Amazon App store is better though?

Than the Google Marketplace or than Appbrain? Way better than Appbrain. Better than the Marketplace? I don't know. I'm on the fence on that one. I do like the free apps though. I have not been tempted to buy a single app from Amazon instead of getting it through the Marketplace. I have picked up every single free app they've put out. I figure even if it's crap, it's still free and I can uninstall it and go on with my life.

Same thing. If I buy an app I do it on the market and I have grabbed all the free app's I didn't all ready own just to try them except the keyboard. The only reason I use appbrain is for the hot apps (then I download from the market if I want it) and so I can share a list of the apps on my phone

The funny thing is that this game got a 4 star rating from Android market.

Amazon reviews are much more informative than the simple one line Market comments and I noticed that many of the poor reviews came from tablet owners and owners of other high res devices. I hope the developer will learn from these reviews.

That is one of the advantages of the Amazon app store. There is a minimum comment length for a review as opposed to the maximum length on the market

and you can rate down the stupid ones

I just noticed...there are other deals besides the free app of the day

some apps are discounted such as Baseball superstars 2011 ($3.99 instead of $4.99), touchdown is free for 90 days...also says Pocket Booth is exclusive to Amazon

this sucks. i'm on AT&T and they've blocked 3rd party application support so i can't get the Amazon App store on my phone without rooting my phone or using the Sideload wonder machine. and i'm not tech saavy enough to do those things anyway. so i guess i have to wait until AT&T gets this out to it's android customers.
grr i'm missing out on all the free apps!

The game will not run at all on my NC which is very disappointed. It cuts off half the screen so you can't play. Interestingly enough, I have a friend who has an iTouch and this is one of her favorite games on the iTouch. I ran it in the test drive mode that Amazon offers and I can see the appeal I guess. I'm a bit surprised it only got two stars.

Some apps are more, some are less. Just check both before you buy and you might save some money. Competition is always good for the consumer!

So far I've gotten Angry Birds Rio, Shazaam Encore, Swiftkey and Farm Frenzy. Of those 4 I've only played Angry Birds Rio. The rest I'll probably delete since I can't really fit them into my Daily Android routine.

Farm frenzy got hit hard in the ratings because of its permissions. You can't get away with that kind of stuff with these reviewers.
herocraft has many popular games on iphone and ovi (some say the company may be worth $10 million) but something about this company really creeps me out.

I would try out swiftkey. I've been using it since it was the free app and it's a great keyboard.
